Keim A 1 and Janet Keim celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 7, 2007 with a dinner at the Mullets. They were married Dec. 14, 1957 in Churubusco by Rev., Delmar Stalter. A 1 was employed by Selmar Conn., Elkhart, and retired after 37 years of services.

"I think mostly it's gathering any additional data that we can and then forwarding that on." Tobey hopes to have a decision from FEMA between Dec. 15 and 18, but the process could take up to 45 days.

"We certainly want to provide any assistance we can," she said. "We feel a responsibility beyond our community to others who may be in similar situations. If we have not given the process every opportunity to work, then we're not meeting a social responsibility to other communities who may be in similar situations." Meanwhile, the committee will continue to work with tornado victims one-on-one. "We want to make sure people know we're meeting critical needs, we're not just sitting around and waiting," Yoder said.
