Tornado cuts path of destruction through Nappanee

ADVANCE NEWS PHOTO/MATT MCFARLAND The fickle nature of tornadoes showed clearly in the rural areas. A bam and several outbuildings belonging to Brad and Shelly Thomas were completely destroyed. However the house, only a few yards away (inset), suffered only a few broken windows and some roof damage.

Grant a senior at North Wood High School, is a member of the North Wood Panthers football team, which beat Mishawaka Manan the next evening in the first sectional game of the season. The game had to be postponed. Because traffic was blocked along U.S. 6 and S.R. 19, the game took place in Bremen. Thompson visited residents Friday following the tornado.
