Death notices i s Elaine R. Orton Feb. 23,2007 v SOUTH BEND Elaine R. Orton, 58, of Nappanee died Friday, Feb. 23 at St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend. She is survived by her husband, Dave Orton of Nappanee; her son, David-Earl Orton of Nappanee; her daughter, Sabrina (Bob) Borton of Plymouth; one granddaughter and four sisters: Cheryl (Daniel) Gonzalez of Nappanee, Susie (Glen) Hochstetler of Nappanee, Cindy Ooe) Lynn of Bremen and Mary Robbins of Wakarusa. Visitation was Monday, Feb. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Goshen United Pentecostal Church. Services were at Goshen United Pentecostal Church on Feb. 26. A private burial was at South Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Goshen United Pentecostal Church benevolence fund. Raymond Dale Young Feb. 26,2007 SOUTH BEND Raymond Dale Young, 79, of Bourbon died Monday Feb. 26 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. He is survived by his wife, Joann Young; sons: Steve (Jenny) Young of Fort Wayne and A 1 (Jill) Young of Bourbon; daughter: Linda (Glen) Helmuth of Bourbon; eight grandchildren; one sister: Dorothy (Harry) Niebling of Sturgis, Mich, and two brothers: Lowell (Barbara) Young of Bremen and Kenneth (Kathy) Young of Nappanee. Visitation was Thursday, March 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Services were Friday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Bremen. Burial was at Bremen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to North Main St. Mennonite Church or Gideon's. Roger A. Zeglin Feb. 26, 2007 GOSHEN Roger A. Zeglin, 44, of Nappanee died Monday Feb. 26 at Goshen General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Doreen Zeglin of Nappanee, his daughter, Sairah Zeglin of Nappanee, his son, Tieler Zeglin of Nappanee, his father, Patrick Zeglin of Illinois and hisbrother, Chris Zeglin. Visitation was at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee March 2 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Cremation followed the service. Memorials may be made to Ribbon of Hope or Nappanee Missionary Church.

They included Scott and Joyce Graybill of Bremen and Jack and Nadine Lengacher of Wakarusa. FCDC director Joan Andrews listed some of the attributes that the couples of the year had to demonstrate in their respective marriages. "The number of years they've been married, the fruit that comes forth in their children," she said. "They have been good examples for the children and grandchildren that have come from that marriage. It's pretty tough criteria." Each couple received a commemorative plaque and a dozen roses, along with an Amish Acres package including an overnight stay at the Inn at Amish Acres, tickets to a show at the Round Bam Theatre and dinner at the Restaurant Bam. The Lengachers of Wakarusa enjoy a family of five children and 16 grandchildren. They are active members of Nappanee Missionary

Pancake breakfast set for March 17
A pancake breakfast to raise money for the North Wood High School marching band's upcoming May trip to Washington, D.C., will take place at the North Wood High School cafeteria Saturday morning, March 17, from 6 to 11 a.m. Pancakes, sausage and eggs will be served. In celebration of the store's 10th year, Osborn is throwing an anniversary open house on Saturday, March 10. She plans to introduce several of the store's services, as well as special discounts on NOW brand products. Dr. Anissa Gruendler will be on site on March 8 and 10 to offer a live blood cell analysis by appointment. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

This is the third time that both service clubs have taken on a project together. Each feels that the youth of the community are a major priority and wish to give back to the band by helping them. The Nappanee Noon Kiwanis meets Tuesdays at noon at Dal Mar Catering Hall in Nappanee and the Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at noon at Heritage House. Each is open to both men and women interested in service to their community and the fellowship involved. The clubs run a variety of youth service projects, including scholarships to North Wood seniors, bicycle safety, support for Riley Children's Hospital, sponsorship of the summer soccer league, Junior Olympics, Boy Scouts, student of the month, the Easter egg hunt and other local and international projects.
