MEDICAL EMERGENCY SEMINAR Anyone who wants to become prepared to handle medical emergencies is invited to attend a seminar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 12 at Christo's Banquet Center in Plymouth. Patrons will have the chance to become certified in adult CPR and first aid basics, as well as learn about bloodborne pathogens. An evening social hour, dinner and American Red Cross presentation are also planned from 5 to 6:45 p.m. for an additional charge. The seminar is sponsored by the Michiana American Foundry Society Chapter. Pre-payment is required. The United Way of Elkhart County's board of trustees unanimously approved the recommendations of the Impact panels. WATER AEROBICS Wa-Nee Continuing Education will be offering a water aerobics class at the North Wood High School pool on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Class one will run from Wednesday, Jan. 17 through Wednesday, Feb. 28. Class two will begin on Wednesday, March 7 and will continue through Monday, April 23. Cost is S3O per person. Checks are payable to Wa-Nee Community Schools. A minimum of 12 students is required. Water aerobics is recommended as one of the best forms of exercise and can be enjoyed by all ages. Benefits include less muscle strain, toning and strengthening, losing inches and releasing tension. No swimming skills are required. MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL The annual Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival has been scheduled for April 20 and 21, 2007. NWHS yearbook given nationwide scholastic honor

Staff Report The North Wood High School Logue was recently named a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Crown Finalist, a prominent honor awarded to only 50 schools throughout the nation. The 83rd annual Spring Scholastic Convention will take place March 14 through 16 in New York City where the results will be presented. Fourteen North Wood High School staffers and four chaperones will be leaving for New York on March 14 and returning March 18. The staff will be hosting a Hacienda Gives Back fundraiser at the Goshen Hacienda on Monday, Jan. 29t. Twenty percent of purchases made with a Hacienda Gives Back token will be donated to the yearbook staff in order to help fund the trip. Tokens will be available at North Wood High School and at area businesses. Now through Jan. 24, staff members are also pre-selling gift cards which may be used at
