Vivian L (Richmond) Pippen Aug. 25, 2006 MUNCIE —Vivian L. (Richmond) Pippen, 90, died early Friday morning, Aug. 25 at the Renaissance Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She was bom in Nappanee, the daughter of Harry B. and Maybelle (Rodegeb) Richmond, grad-
uated from Nappanee High School, attended Ashland College, now Ashland University, in Ashland, Ohio and came to Muncie in 1950. Mrs. Pippen was associated with her late husband, Carlyle (Curly) Pippen, in the operation of Pippen's Kitchens for more than 25 years. Vivian was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Tri Kappa Sorority and the Elks Country Club.
She also served as a docent at Minnetrista Cultural Center. Surviving are five children: Peter (Janie) Pippen, Fishers; Polly Ann (Terry) Orrick, Muncie; Patrick (Terri) Pippen, Winchester, Ky.; Penny (Stephen) Justin, Yorktown and Peggy (David) Schroeder, Troy, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister and a brother. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10 in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Ronald Naylor officiating. Visitation will be one-half hour prior so service time on Sunday. The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, 1400 W. Ernest ‘Lee’ Leroy Masterson Aug. 28, 2006 FAIRVIEW, Mich. Mr. Ernest Leroy Masterson, 90, of Fairview, Mich, died Monday, Aug. 28,2006 at Mercy Hospital, Grayling, Mich.
Viewing was Thursday, Aug. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lashley Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at New Hope Assembly of God on Friday, Sept. 1 with Pastor Russell Bowman officiating the service. Inteqnent was at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview. Lee was born Oct. 22, 1915 in Warren, Mo. to Arasmus and Orpha (Crouch) Masterson. Most of his life was spent in the Nappanee area. On
Dec. 14,1941 he married Elsie Mae (Hochstetler) Masterson of Nappanee. Both he and his wife and their children performed on the "Come Let Us Reason Together" Christian radio program in South Bend, sponsored by Northwood Chapel of Nappanee. As music was a special part of his life he gave lessons, played and made both guitars and violins. In his earlier years he worked as an electrician. He graduated from the institute of Applied Science in Chicago, 111. and then worked as a Special Deputy Sheriff specializing in fingerprinting within counties of both Utah and Arizona. Upon returning to Indiana, Lee worked as a spray painter at Coppes Inc., a kitchen cabinet factory in Nappanee. In August of 1989 they moved to Fairview, Mich. He is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Jerry) Yoder of Fairview and Cynthia Masterson of Mio, Mich, and one granddaughter: Sarah Yoder; * Lee was proceeded in death by his wife Elsie, his parents and brothers and sisters: Rollan, Charles, Murray, Fallie, Gilbert, Jack, Doris Masterson , Carolyn Orn, Kitty Spencer and Lillian Embrey. BOARD, continued from front arise. •The proposed 2007 budget for the Wa-Nee school corporation is $31,241,478, as compared to $28,604,827 from 2006. Much of this is due to recent building updates and improvements made to the elementary schools. •A hearing was conducted concerning school bus replacement. While there are no plans to replace any school busses for the year 2007, the board is looking into purchasing four 72-per-son busses. Four existing busses would then be used as .spares, while current spare busses would be made handicapped accessible. •The Phoenix team from North Wood High School has received permission to attend an educational field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, 111 on May 23.

the scope of student services. While Purdue does not have a school of music or offer a music degree program, more than 600 students are enrolled in 13 band-related course offerings each semester. Groups including concert band, orchestra and jazz band are offered on a curricular basis, and there is private instrumental study available. Peter Rummel, Jr., an agricultural and biological engineering major from Nappanee, was awarded the Thomas Miller Marching Band scholarship.
