Harold E. “Harry” Miller May 18, 2006 NAPPANEE Harold E. "Harry" Miller, 63, of Nappanee, died at his home on Thursday, May 18,2006. He is survived by his daughters: Robin Barnhart of Bristol, Fla. and Becky Brown of Blountstown, Fla.; son, Toby Miller of Nappanee: sisters; Dorothy (Dan) Chupp of Nappanee and Thelma Miller of Ft. Myers, Fla.; brothers: Carl W. Miller of Nappanee, Arthur (Jeanie) Miller of Nappanee and Denzil (Sharon) Miller of Nappanee; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held on Saturday, May 27 at the ThompsonLengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Services were conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, May 27 at 11 a.m. Pastor Norm Riemer, Nappanee Missionary Church, officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to Nappanee Open Door. Robert B. Seeber May 22, 2006 CLINTON, Term. Robert B. Seeber, 61, of Clinton, Tenn., formerly of Goshen and Nappanee, died at his residence on Monday, May 22. He is survived by his wife, Susan Seeber; children: Eric Seeber of Warsaw, Jeremy Hills of Sturgis, Mich, and Jessica Hills of Powell, Tenn.; two grandchildren: mother; Peg Hoffer of Nappanee; and brother, Brian (Janet) Hoffer of Nappanee. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Nappanee United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Janet McFall-Brown, Mt. Tabor Church of God, will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Tennessee at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nappanee Public Library. Amo, 86, of New Paris, died at 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 at Springhill Regional Hospital in Springhill, Fla. She is survived by her sisters: June and Helen Mishler, both of Nappanee and foster son, Harry Dooley of New Paris. Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30 at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Services were conducted at the Bethany Church of the Brethren in New Paris at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31. Rev. Tim Sollenberger-Morphew, Bethany Church of the Brethren, officiated. Berkey and his son, Morris, who is his Deputy, embezzled school funds in the amount of $4,300. Berkey was allowed to remain in office. Morris was known as one of the most daring gamblers that ever threw dice or played cards and it was always a mystery where he got all his funds. Morris has disappeared to parts unknown. 75 Years Ago June 4,1931 • Friday evening 38 members of the Class of 1931 graduated in Commencement exercises in the city Auditorium. Valedictory address was given by Fay Danner. Frances Gall was Salutatorian. • The Tilman miniature golf course near the Community Park is again open and "golf hounds" can now play 36 holes for 25 cents. 50 Years Ago May 31,1956 • Supt. Osborn received a pay increase to $8,400 a year. • First Girls softball league was organized by City Recreation Department. Games will be played every Wednesday morning at 8:30 and 10 a.m. There will be 6 teams. 25 Years Ago June 3,1981 The first PTO Fun Fair evoked shades of laughter from the old high school building back in the 50s for parents as they joined their children at the festivities last Tuesday evening at South Elementary School Teachers from both Central and South worked hard on their individual booths which provided lots of laughs, smiles and joy for many children. 15 Years Ago May 29,1991 The Nappanee community paused to remember those who have sacrificed their lives through service to their country during Monday morning's annual Memorial Day Parade and service. Marty Miller chaired the activities, with David Widmoyer serving as the guest speaker. The ceremonies also included music by the North Wood High School Marching Band.

Kiwonis Soccer League

The KiWanis will be using the softball diamonds of county .road 7 for the Kiwanis soccer fields (use the golf course entrance.) All soccer events will be at this location. There will be team try-outs at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June, 3 for all registered soccer players. Your child needs to attend this team tryout if they are between 9 and 11 years of age and have never participated in this league or if your child is moving up to the U-ll (9-11) Division and does not have a sibling already on a team in that division. If your child cannot make the team tryout, they will be randomly assigned to a team. The League is currently contacting the coaches and assistant

coaches who have so generously volunteered their time for our youth. The coaches will be contacting the players at the end of June or beginning of July about practice times and other season information. If you would like to do more than cheer, then volunteer to help! All coaches and referees are volunteers recruited from parents and other interested people in the community who enjoy the game of soccer. Experience is not required. The league provides training for coaches and referees through clinics. Saturday, June 3 there will be a coaching clinic at 11:30 a.m. and a refereeing clinic at 12:30 p.m. (before the draft).
