Nappanee At approximately 11:21 p.m. on April 8, a license plate check was performed on a vehicle. It was found that the owner, Mathew L. Calhoun, 18, of Bremen, had two active warrants for him through the Marshall County Court. While watching for the car to leave a parking lot, a traffic stop was made by Nappanee Patrolmen Bill and Jeremy Hooley. Calhoun was inside fire car, and was arrested without incident. The charges were for Failure to Appear for DWI While Endangering a Person, a Class D Felony, and Driving While Suspended (Prior). The second warrant was also for Driving While Suspended (Prior). There was no bond on the warrants, and Calhoun was later transported to the Marshall County Jail.

Goshen College GOSHEN — Three Nappanee natives are among the 240 candidates planning to receive diplomas at Goshen College's 108th Annual Commencement on April 23. Jamei Lynn Boyer will receive a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership, Lynn M. McClung will receive a bachelor's degree in organizational management and Robert P. Miller will receive a bachelor's degree in Bible and religion.

Abraham Jessica Slabaugh and Thomas Abraham were united in marriage on Dec. 3, 2005 at North Main St. Mennonite Church by Pastor Ruben Chupp in the presence of approximately 300 people. Music was provided by pianist Lisa Showalter of Warsaw, friend of couple; and vocalists Rob and Janell Mountcastle of Lapel, aunt and uncle of groom, and Paul Abraham of Nashville, Tenn., uncle of groom. The maid of honor was Jacklyn Slabaugh of Nappanee, sister of bride. The bridesmaids were: Jennifer Yeager of North Vernon, friend of couple; Sara Hockenheimer of Dayton, Ohio, friend of couple; Christa Sawvel of Athens, Ohio, friend of couple; and Jenna Abraham, of Fishers, sister of''groom. The best man was Matthew Van Hom of Indianapolis, friend of couple. The groomsmen were: David Stillwell of Hopkinton, N.H., friend of couple; Matthew Zuellig of Saganaw, Mich., friend of couple; Daniel Slabaugh of Nappanee, brother of bride; and Jonathan Abraham, of Fishers, brother of groom. The ring bearer was Zebadiah Walizer of Columbia, Md., nephew of bride. The flower girl was Allison Linder of Oak Forest, 111., cousin of bride. The reception was held at Greencroft Senior Center. The couple honeymooned in Miami Beach, Fla. They are currently residing in Marion, where they are students at Indiana Wesleyan University. The bride's parents are Lamar and Mary Slabaugh of Nappanee. The groom's parents are Steven and Marcia Abraham of Fishers.

Hamsher Rich and Deanna Hamsher of Nappanee will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on April 25, 2006. The couple was married on April 25, 1981 at the Nappanee Church of God by Rev. D.J. Davis. Their children are Ashley Hamsher of South Bend and Austin Hamsher of Nappanee. Rich is the owner of Coppes Kitchens, and Deanna is the secretary at Nappanee Elementary School.
