‘Haunted by God’ comes to the PHJC Ministry Center

Staff Report DONALDSON, The public is invited to see the play "Haunted by God" in Cana Hall at the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Ministry Center on Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m. "Haunted by God" is a play about the life of Dorothy Day, one of the most outspoken and influential American Catholics of the 20th century. The production incorporates all the wit and prophetic grit of Dorothy Day's own words about war, peace, American society, compassion and protest in the spirit of Jesus. Dorothy Day (1897-1980) was a powerful woman of immense conviction who found herself jailed many times when witnessing her beliefs, including women's suffrage. In New York in 1933, she and a French-bom itinerant philosopher, Peter Maurin co-founded the Catholic Worker, a living movement that has been responsible for feeding and housing the homeless while maintaining a monthly, nation-ally-read newspaper. Today, there are over 100 Catholic

Prior to their marriage in 1993, Kenny and Annette Parsons sang with their own family groups. Kenny had sang with his family since 1987, and Annette had sung with her family, The Jones Family, for about 14 years. Her family became known for writing chart-hitting songs such as, "There Has Never Been" (recorded by the Perrys) and "I’ll Live Again"(a top 10 hit for the Bishops). When the Jones Family disbanded in 1993, Kenny and Annette joined their talents and Godgiven musical abilities to embark on a ministry of their own with a style that is unique and a diversity that will appeal to everyone from the contemporary music lover, the praise and worship enthusiast, and also to the southern style gospel fans. They believe that God has called them with an anointed mission to put the ministry back into gospel music. Their Web site is kaparsons.tripod.com. FPC Case is a monthly outreach ministry program that brings a variety of Christian music groups to the community through, a relaxed coffeehouse atmosphere.
