According to Mayor Callander, last month's newspaper pick-up was large, with about 23,000 pounds of newspaper retrieved by city employees. Due to the cost of manpower, gasoline and other expenses, the mayor has decided that it would be more economical for the city to set up a bin for people to drop off their old newspapers.

so hard, and make yourself into a player good enough to be chanted at.'." Perhaps the chants have just become commonplace for Lightfoot, but for a high school senior to deal with the taunts in such a mature way, takes a special kind of mentality. "All good players need to have it," Gunn said about the mentality to block out the opposing fans. "You can't get rattled by your opposition or the opposing fans. You really need to have ice water in your veins, and have a tough mental attitude." While ice water in the veins is always good, Lightfoot also credits the faith in his heart. "I grew up in a Christian home my whole life, but it was a mission trip to Brazil this summer that really helped me realize it," Lightfoot said about his faith. "I used to sit back and say that I was a Christian, but now I live it. The mission trip helped put my faith back in my life, and helped me be more vocal about it." It's that change that helps Lightfoot get through the tough times on the court. "It's cleaned up all the things I do," he said. "It's fun to have a smile on the court, and the guys are accepting of it. It's nice to be a Christian role model on the team." When speaking of teammates, it can be difficult to envision

Lightfoot without his backcourt running mate Zac Lechlitner. The two have developed a close friendship, which extends past the dimensions of a basketball court. "Zac's been a three-year starter with a varsity, and has a lot of experience," Lightfoot said. "Zac's my friend, not only on the court; but off it too. He's just a great person and a great player." Along with the scoring records he may set, Lightfoot seems to be enjoying this season even more as a team experience. He already has the all-time scoring record and was 79 points behind Hirschy's single season record of 519 prior to the Penn game. Aside from individual stats, North Wood was also 15-3 going into Tuesday night's game, one of North Wood's best seasons ever. "It's been a great year," he said. "With the older team we have, it's been a lot of fun with great team mates." While they're currently ranked No. 5 in Class 3A, Lightfoot and his teammates aren't quite satisfied yet. "We want to take it was far as we can," he said. "We have a few more games left in the regular season, so hopefully we can win those and enter the tournament strong. The goal is always to win sectional, but I'd like to end it in Indianapolis (in the state championship)."
