It ended in what is styled as a dance. Words fail to express our disgust at such a performance. • Winter set in last Saturday. The mercury Monday morning reached 12 degrees below zero. 100 Years Ago Dec. 6,1905 Lightning struck a telephone pole near Vawter Park at Milford near which was a nest of black snakes, the lightning having killed 27 of them, some being very large. 75 Years Ago Dec. 11,1930 On Christmas Day at 10 o'clock in the morning the Fairy Theatre will be open to the public with a special invitation to children to see "Byrd at the South Pole" and several reels of comedy pictures. Huffman Bakery takes this way to say "Merry Christmas" to all. 50 Years Ago Dec. 8,1955 • Michele Ingle won the title of Queen of Toyland at the Jaycees "Funnybone Follies" and Brett Tobias was crowned King. • Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Weaver, owners of Yellowstone Coach, entertained 81 of their employees at a ham supper at Pagoda Inn in Goshen Thursday evening. 25 Years Ago Dec. 3,1980 Councilman Bill Dawson issued a "friendly warning" to snowmobile operators at the Common Council meeting Monday. Dawson reported incidents over the previous weekend of snowmobiles being driven across private lawns when there was no snow. He stated that iftuch incidents continue, he would be in favor of an ordinance restricting use of snowmobiles. 15 Years Ago Nov. 28,1990 The following announcement was made by Mayor Robert Callander on Monday, November 26. "One of the most difficult decisions which an elected official has to make is the one to decide when to quit. This is especially true for a Mayor who has been in office for more than one term." Poinsettias for safe For the second year in a row, the Nappanee Rotary Club and the Boys & Girls Club of Nappanee are teaming up to sell poinsettias for the holiday season. Once again this year the flowers are being sold for $lO per plant. Proceeds from the sale will benefit both organizations. You can reserve your poinsettias by calling the Boys & Girls Club of Nappanee at 773-5200. Interested buyers are encouraged to reserve their plants as there are limited number of flowers being sold. Beginning on Dec. 5, the poinsettias were available at the Boys & Girls Club of Nappanee, 107 E. Marion Street.
