RALLY "1 took this job with the idea to continue to grow," he said. After becoming head coach for the 1993 season, following the passing of Andrews, Dodson's only goal was to not fail his old friend, by continuing to build the North Wood football program. "It's always been my life goal, as a coach, to make sure I'd be able to stand on the field and watch North Wood celebrate the last game of the year with a win," he said. Dodson knows exactly where the North Wood program has come from, but with newer coaches such as second^year

Food Drive A million thanks to the Nappanee Community for their tremendous support of the 2nd annual Community-wide Food Drive sponsored by the Nappanee United Methodist Church. Food donations were received from Nappanee and Nappanee area residents. The Semper Sidelis Sunday School Class from the Union Center Church of the Brethren also got on board by bringing in donations and assisting on pick-up day. Last year as part of their 40 Days of Community Spiritual Growth Campaign, the Nappanee United Methodist Church launched the Million Can March, a Community-wide Food Drive. On Saturday, Nov. 5, they placed over 3,000 grocery bags on the doors of homes in the Nappanee area. The attached note asked residents to fill the grocery bag with nonperishable food items and to place the bag on their porch the next Saturday, Nov. 12, when the bag would be picked up. It was an effort to "Reach out Together" to show God's love to the community. Once again the food drive was a huge success, collecting 8,705 cans that were given to the Open Door Food Pantry in Nappanee. Hank Whelan, director of Open Door, was elated to receive such a huge quantity of food and indicated this should get them through the winter. Thank you to each and every person in the community who participated and reached out in love for those less fortun.ate. The church would also like to extend their appreciation to Tim Stump and Martin's Supermarket for donating all the grocery bags. Nappanee United Methodist Church

coach Nick Davis, the crowd support is something new. "When you move here, you don't really know what you're moving into," Davis said. "But we bleed red and black now." Senior Sam Telschow thanked the longtime North Wood coach, not only for helping him become a better player, but also a better man. "I want to give special thanks to coach Dodson," Telschow said. "He teaches us not only to be good players, but also good people." During his speech, Dodson also answered a question about whether or not this team will go
Thank You We would like to take this time to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers during our difficult time. This last year has been a rough one, but we couldn't have done it without everyone. We want to thank Tri-County Ambulance Service for transporting Jimmy to radiation. Also, Goshen Hospital for everything you did, from the Cancer Center to the Oncology Unit. You are all wonderful people! Also, thank you to the LuAnn Nursing Home for the great care and love you gave James "Jimmy" Collins and the rest of our family. Thank you Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home for everything, and Pastor Tom Schiefer for being there at the hospital when we needed you and the wonderful service you planned for Jimmy, we appreciate all you did. And Commercial Structures for all your help ■through this whole thing, he worked with a lot of great, caring people. Thank you to the Legion for allowing us to have the Spaghetti Benefit there, and everyone that attended. Thanks to the band "Shiver", you rocked! And last, but not Jeast, the Torch for everything. Being such good friends to us, letting us have the funeral there, the care and concern will be forgotten. Jimmy had a great group of friends, and you all know who you are. He cared about his friends and he had some of the best ones. A special thanks goes to Terry Graber for coordinating the Spaghetti Benefit and putting the donation cans around town. down as Jus most successful. He mentioned that he gauges the success of Jus football teams by what they do after football. He expressed Jus views of wanting his players to succeed in life, and live as good people. "I'd say, ask me in 25 years," Dodson said. "Then I'll finally be able to see if I've been successful as a coach." To take a 3-6 team to a state championship would be enough for some to say he's been great, especially after hearing senior Austin Yoder speak about his ' thoughts going into the postseason. "We would have been happy to just win a sectional championship," he mused. Dodson defers credit from

Thank You Horizon Ministries of Bremen thanks the many people of Bremen and the surrounding communities who contributed to our recent Personal Care Products Drive, which we undertook as part of our "40 Days of Community" campaign. Many people dropped off needed items at the trailer, which was located in the parking lot of Woodie's Supermarket in Bremen. Special thanks go to Charles Schramm, who allowed us to put the trailer in the Woodie's parking lot, and to all of the employees of Woodie's, who put up with our volunteers bothering them to get to the key to the padlock on the trailer and for also letting us use the bathroom! Thanks also go to Copperfield of Bremen for the use of the trailer and for moving it to and from the Woodie's parking lot. The stairs belong to the Bremen Fire Department and we are thankful they let us borrow them. We collected 5,600 diapers, 69 containers of dish detergent, 36

himself back onto his team for the win. "A champion is a person who picks himself off the ground," Dodson said. "He cleans himself off, and goes back in." The coach also credited parents with keeping the team morale up. "These kids had good support at home that kept encouraging them," he ssid. Senior Austin Hamsher let it be known that it isn't only private schools in large cities that can win championships. "We showed that a little town can do something big," he said.

Again, thanks to the Bremen community and region for helping the individuals and families of our communities who will be facing a tough winter this year. Our neighbors will need our help, and it was an honor to go shoulder-to-shoulder with you in making a difference for them. With gratitude, Amy Kiefer, ■project coordinator and Jim Morse, pastor Horizon Ministries
