IfcwryNww Spring Into Art ♦ Spring Into Art 2005 was a wonderful success with a tremendous display of fine art from many returning and new artists! From oils Jrnd watercolors to stone and wood sculpture to ceramics and guilts, the variety was impressive! Fantastic artwork was sold during the 3-day event helping us reach our goals to promote the arts, jbcal artists and the library with a part of each sale going to the Nappanee Public Library Endowment Fund. It was a high energy event again this year with activities from home and garden makeovers, drawing demonstrations, jazz band performances and comic book events. The enthusiasm by those who attended was energizing to the library staff and many volunteers who worked so hard during the past months to prepare for the event. We want to thank John Ferguson, Sonya Harman, Marcus Johnson, and the Board and Staff of the Nappanee Boys & Girls Club, Tri Kappa and Psi lota Xi sororities, Thursday Club, Friends of the Nappanee Public Library, and the many organizations and individuals whose participation and support make this event possible. games. Senator Altilis is breathing down her neck to choose him to manage the government while the emperor is away, so he deviously schemes to move the date of the gladiator games up, thus burdening the princess with wedding plans. Meanwhile, peasant thieves, Gladius, Minimus and Julia, sneak into the royal palace disguised as handmaidens, and are promptly caught in a hilarious scene, almost becoming lion food until the princess gets an idea. If she trains Gladius to compete in the games, she can avoid marrying Brudis, the brainless brute favored to win.* "The Last Gladiator" is a hilarious show with great opportunities for physical humor. The Nappanee Civic Theatre began its summer youth program in 1964 and since then, hundreds of area youths have had fun while learning how to put together a stage production. Besides acting techniques, they are also instructed on make-up, set building, voice projection and character development.
