Death Notices Wjkjlaaai ira sianiey vooer February 21, 2005 LAKE WALES, FLA. Fla., died at 1:35 a m. on Monday, Feb. 21 at Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J.; son, Dennis Stanley (Debbie) Yoder, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Jill Rene (Charles) Herber, of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and sister, Loretta Miller, of Goshen. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held. A funeral service was held at the First Mennonite Church, Nappanee, on Saturday, April 2 at 10 a m. Rev. Mark Stahl, First Mepnonite Church, officiated and he was assisted by Rev. Gordon Dick. Burial was in Violet Cemetery, Goshen. Khamplne S. Chanhma March 25, 2005 ELKHART Khampine S. Chanhma, 62, of Elkhart diSd at 4:05 a.m. on Friday, March 25 at St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend. She is survived by her five daughters, Ratsamy Phaysom, of San Francisco, Calif., Nousa Chanhma, of Mishawaka, Sida Chanhma, of Elkhart, Boualapha Chanhma, of Elkhart, Phetsanoun Chanhma, of Vientane, Laos; son, Songkham Chanhma, of Wakarusa; and 13 grandchildren. Visitation was held at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa, on Saturday, April 2, followed by the 3 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home. Rev. Arnold Dietz, of Baugo Church of the Brethren, officiated. The body will be cremated and inurnment will be in Olive West Cemetery at a later date. Gregory Lee Harman March 30, 2005 GOSHEN Gregory Lee Harman, 52, of 66405 Prairieview Dr., Goshen, died at 71750 County Road 33 in Syracuse on March 30, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Susie Harman of Goshen; three sons, Joshua Harman of South Bend, Derek Harman of Wilmington, N.C. and Nicholas Harman of Syracuse; two brothers, Larry Harman of Elkhart and Gail Harman of Nappanee; sister, Sonya Harman of Nappanee; parents, Richard and Lorene Harman of Nappanee; and grandchild, Jacob Harman of South Bend. Visitation was held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, on Friday, April 1 from 2 to 8 p.m. Services were conducted on Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. David Shadday officiating. Burial was in the Leesburg Cemetery, Leesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Care Center in honor of Jamie Harman. Embrace the Pace Day ! ti l

With the help of the Mikels, and many others, many staffers experienced the Big Apple for the first time. "It was amazing," head photographer Nate Davidhizar said. "It's a whole different culture of people there. By the end of the week, we didn't even notice all the honking cars." The staff left North Wood on March 16, and didn't return until March 20. She was "very thrilled as it was the Ist time in her more than 70 years she ever won anything." 25 Years Ago April 2,1980 Services were held Tuesday for two Nappanee men who were killed early Saturday in a one-car accident on US6 three and onehalf miles east of SRls* The two were David A. Forsythe, 23, 751 E. Walnut St., Nappanee, and Steven L. Mitschelen, 24, R 4, Nappanee. According to Elkhart County Police, the accident occurred as Forsythe was driving west on US6, at approximately 1:20 a.m. Saturday. Police report that the vehicle left the road and struck several trees, before tumbling end-over-end several times, throwing Mitschelen clear of the vehicle. v 15 Years Ago April 4,1990 For the second time since 1986, circulation for the Nappanee Public Library surpassed the 10,000 mark, as reported by Linda Voder during the Wednesday, March 21 meeting. During the month of February, book circulation alone reached 9,320, which is a 24% increase over last year's figures. Overall circulation including video tapes, records, magazines, art prints, equipment, etc. totaled 11,451, a 19% jump over February of 1989. Yoder attributed the increase to 56 class visits, full registration for both Tuesday and Wednesday Story Hour sessions, and a special "Night of a Thousand Stars" program during STARS week (Students That Are Reading to Succeed). ,
