Thank you letter to canned food donors
A million thanks to the Nappanee Community for their tremendous support of the Community-wide Food Drive sponsored by the Nappanee United Methodist Church. Food donations were received from Nappanee residents, businesses and other churches as well as the Wakarusa Community. As part of their 40 Days of Community Spiritual Growth Campaign, the Nappanee United Methodist Church launched the Million Can March, a Community-wide Food Drive. On Saturday, Nov. 13, they placed over 2,000 grocery bags on the doors of homes in Nappanee. The attached note asked residents to fill the grocery bag with non-perishable

food items and to place the bag on their porch the next Saturday, Nov. 20, when the bag would be picked up. It was an effort to "Reach out Together" to show God's love to the community. The food drive was a huge success, collecting 9,033 cans which will be given to the Open Door Food Pantry and the Family Christian Development Center in Nappanee. Thank you to each and every person who stepped out in love for those less fortunate and had a part in the Million Can March. The church would also like to extend their appreciation to Tim Stump and Martin's Supermarket for donating all the grocery bags.

A tale of two tales
I have just about finished another edition of the Nappanee Advance News. I am currently in mouth, but realize that I must now drive back to Nappanee because I can't seem to find the story about tht
North Wood Academic Teams going to a Russian Festival. I remember writing it, but it's not on any of the ZIP disks I brought, and I'm more than a bit nervous that I might need to rewrite the thing. I would much rather find the elusive gem, but odds are that I've probably deleted it somewhere along the way. Fantastic. So enough of all that negative thinking, it might be fun to rewrite a story that I have already written. A week ago. I'm sure I'll be able to read my scribblings that pass for notes even better a week later, than I can 30 minutes later. If I had the story here, I'd be finished with the Dec. 2 edition as soon as I finished this ditty, but oh no. It's alright, I don't mind driving the distance, hoping that the story is saved somewhere. I like to drive because I like to listen to CDs, even though I've pretty much wore out the ones that I have. Getting onto another subject, I witnessed the biggest blowout I have ever seen, and hopefully nobody else has seen, when the North Wood girls beat Lakeland Christian 109-17. It was unbelievable. Lakeland Christian had something like 46 turnovers. I'm sorry, but it shouldn't be possible to have that many turnovers, no matter how much better the other team is. It was hard to watch because eventually, the North Wood parents even had to start clapping for them when they scored. When I told my friends of the score, they were reminded of a similar score a few years back when the Panthers dismantled Bremen in the same way. I had no idea what I was walking into when I went to The Pit to cover the game.. I thought I was covering a regular ol' basketball game, but after the score was 12-0 after a minute, it was obvious that this wasn't going to be the average game. This was going to be a different kind of story. I couldn't very well write about what happened in so and so part of the game, because there was no game. If I was on a team that got beat like that, I think I'd just sit on the floor and throw a hissy fit. The only way that the game could have been any stranger would have been if someone had thrown a pop on a player, and that initiated a brawl in the stands. Fin.
