Inc. presented the council for a change order for $1,500 and a pay request of $336,000 from Brooks Construction. The pay request represents work done on the downtown revitalization project from mid-September to midOctober. According to Wilson, 93 percent of the project's contract has been paid. The last pay request for the project will be for the end of October and will include small items. A retaining fee for the firm will be the last payment made for the town. Ronald Gerstbauer. executive dean of Ivy Tech College State College, Elkhart, told the council that the school would be starting 15 classes at North Wood High School. The council expressed interest in using Ivy Tech students to conduct questionnaires with Wakarusa merchants. They would like to know if

Following the interviews, the college will come back with a proposal for the downtown businesses. The council approved the donation of a 1963 Ford fire tanker to the Point Township Fire Department in Mount Vernon, Ind. The truck will be donated in early 2005. when the town receives its new tanker. The truck will be donated with the stipulation that when Point Township is finished with the truck, they will allow Wakarusa to have it back for the historical museum. The board approved making the intersection of North Elkhart and Sycamore streets a four-way stop. The annual contract with the Elkhart County Humane Society for animal control was approved.

A maintenance contract with Keystone Consulting Services for $4,700 was renewed. A 2005 Dodge Durango police vehicle was from Downie Chrysler Jeep Chrysler for $24,700 to replace a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice. Downie was the low bid. A fee of $10,670 was approved to retain Beer & Slabaugh, Inc. to complete Industrial Drive. The council approved S7OO to be used by the Wakarusa Youth Bowling Program for trophies and a Christmas party. The streets will be closed a half block in each direction of downtown on Dec. 13 for “Christmas Around the Tree” sponsored by the Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce.
