fled Regiment moves on to regional! ! The North Wood Red Regiment competed in the ISSMA District Contest at Concord High School and scored exceptionally well! The Red Regiment earned a Gold Award which Orieans they will be advancing to the regional level at Carmel High School on Oct. 16. In addition, the Red Regiment also won caption awards for Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect. This Saturday, the Red Regiment will be traveling to Center Grove and Carmel High Schools. Congratulations and best wishes Red Regiment! Chili supper at high school The North Wood High School Red Regiment will be hosting their 7th annual Chill Supper Tailgate at North Wood High School from 5 to 7 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 8. Tickets are available from any Red Regiment member or by calling Jeanne Focht In the Music Office at 773-4127. Tickets are $5 each and children 5 and under eat free. Schmidts to perform at Union Center The Schmidt Family will perform at the Union Center Church of the Brethren Sunday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend the concert. A freewill offering will be taken. The group will be sharing many original songs from their newest album, “First Love.” After 16 years of touring and singing country gospel. Four teachers return to Stewart Dance
NAPPANEE Lee Anne Stewart has always considered her dance school students family. And now she finds four of her "family” returning to the dance school. Lindsay (Schwartz) Beasley, Kristin Bonacorsi, Wendy (Cripe) Grady, and Andrea Stichter will join the teaching faculty of the Stewart Dance Schools beginning with the 2004-05 dance year. All four women are former students of the Stewart dance schools. Lindsay (Schwartz) Beasley returns to the Stewart Dance Schools after getting married in 2003. Beasely has taken dance classes for over 20 years (10 years with Lee Anne Stewart). Beasley was a student teacher at the Stewart Dance Schools while a student in the Wawasee schools. She was an instructor during her junior and senior years of high school. Beasley has attended numerous Dance Olympus and Dance Makers Inc. conventions around the country. In 1997, she was selected as a Dance Olympus VIP during her senior year of high school. Beasley holds a B.A. from Oklahoma City University as a dance major. She also performed at Disney Tokyo after graduating from college. In the fall of 2002. Beasley choreographed a DMI first-place-award-winning jazz routine for the advanced dancers at the Stewart dance school while she was teaching with Stewart. Beasley has studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and pointe. Beasley begins her third year as an instructor with the dance schools. She will be teaching at the Syracuse studio. Kristin Bonacorsi returns to the Stewart Dance Schools after completing the coursework for her bachelor’s degree in education at Purdue University. Bonacorsi studied ballet, tap and jazz with Lee Anne Stewart for 10 years before heading to PU where she continued to take dance classes. She student taught at the dance school while she was a high school student, eventually teaching her own classes. As a dancer, Bonacorsi competed with various dance groups in regional competitions always qualifying for national competition. Bonacorsi is a former member of the award-winning NWHS cheerleading competition squad and varsity cheerleader. In the fall of 2004. Bonacorsi will be completing her student teaching in the Penn-Harris-Madison school system (Mishawaka). Bonacorsi begins her second year as an instructor with the dance schools. She will be teaching at the Nappanee studio. Wendy (Cripe) Grady also returns to the dance schools after completing the coursework for her bache-

In the fall of 2004, Grady will be completing her student teaching in the Wawasee school district. Grady begins her second year as an instructor with the dance schools. She will be teaching at the Syracuse studio. Andrea Stichter began taking dance classes at the dance school when she was in junior high school. Stichter has taken classes in ballet, tap, jazz and pointe and most recently studied dancing at Indiana University (Bloomington). Stichter student taught and instructed her own classes before heading to lU. She has also attended numerous conventions of Dance Olympus and Dance Makers, Inc. Stichter now returns to begin her third year as an instructor with the dance schools. Stichter will be teaching in both the Nappanee and Syracuse studios. Continuing in her role as assistant director of the dance schools in 2004 will be Meghann Stewart who will be teaching classes at both the Syracuse and Nappanee locations. Also, teaching four nights each week will be Elizabeth Cox. Cox begins her 22nd year with the Stewart Dance Schools. She will also be teaching at both the Syracuse and Nappanee studios. Stewart opened her first dance school in 1973. In September, Stewart begins teaching her 32nd year of dance - instructing students at both the Syracuse and Nappanee studios. Stewart is the exclusive owner and operator of the studios. Stewart is also pleased to have her actual family with her at the dance school: oldest daughter, Meg, works as an instructor; her youngest daughter. Janae. takes classes and works as a student teacher; and this fall her granddaughter, Bri Stewart, will begin pre-ballet. Students may register for classes for either of the Stewart dance schools by calling 877-658-9875. Classes are offered to students ranging in age from 3 years through adult in pre-ballet, ballet, pointe, jazz, tap and hip hop. Lead testing offered GOSHEN The Elkhart County Health Department will offer free lead testing to children 9 months to 6 years of age. testing will be done at the Goshen office on Oct. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., located at 117 N.
