Scores Football Freshhian Kent Biller and Ryne Gamer scored touchdowns, but North Wood dropped a 20-12 decision. August 26 at Plymouth. Biller rushed for 100 yards on seven carries, Gamer 26 on 8. David Lopez five on four and Trevarius Green one on two. Gamer was 3-for-7 passing for 20 yards. Chase Teska caught one pass for 10 yards. Biller one for six and Lopez one for four. Leaders for the defense were Travis Cassell with 11 hits, Lopez, James Reynolds and Hosh Stouder each eight. Jordan Tyler had an interception. Soccer Boys The North Wood High School boys soccer team defeated Lakeland Christian 4-0 on Aug. 24. Sophomore Rodrigo Dosal had three goals, and sophomore Tyler Slagle had one goal for North Wood. Juniors Zac Lechlitner and Nate Davidhizar had assists. The Panthers led in shots 18-6 and corners 5-3. The junior varsity lost to Lakeland Christian 1-0. The junior varsity will play at Wawasee on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 4:30 p.m.; and the varsity will play at Wawasee on Thursday. Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m. Soccer Girls North Wood lost 5-0 at Warsaw, August 26. Allison Maust was in goal for the team.. Tennis Boys North Wood lost at home to Fairfield, 5-0, August 23. North Wood lost to Concord, 3-2 at home, August 26. No. 2 singles Trent Chupp, and No. 3 singles Thom Kurtz won their matches. JV lost to Concord, 6-0 North Wood dropped a 3-2 decision to Culver Academy, August 27. No. 2 singles Trent Chupp, and No. 3 singles, Thom Kurtz won their matches The JV team won 5-2, with Ben Baker and Jordan Yoder-Cory winning two matches, and Tyler Chupp winning one match. Volleyball North Wood’s freshman defeated South Bend Washington 29-27, 2523 and lost to Elkhart Memorial 2514, 25-19, August 24. Ashley Croy and Bridgett Stutzman both had three service aces for the PAnthers against Washington. Nicole Hostetler had three setting assists and Holly Schutz had one winning spike. Kayla Fox, Jill Witmer, Alyssa Bates, Danielle Klotz, Shantel Gamer and Briana Yoder were other stand outs.
