Obituaries Allen “Jim” Weldy March 6, 2004 NEW PARIS James Allen Weldy, 47, of New Paris, passed away March 6 at 4 a.m. of cancer. Weldy was born March 17, 1956 in Goshen to Robert J. Weldy and Zoa Elizabeth Hooley. He was a lifelong Milford, Millersburg, New Paris area resident. He married Linda Everest on Nov. 6, 1976 in Goshen. Weldy was a 1974 graduate of Fairfield High School, where he was active in athletics and music. He was a manager of the Maintenance Division at Aggregate Industries and was previously employed at Superior Rigging and Concord Builders. He was a member of Teamsters Local 364 Union and was a member of the North Main Street Mennonite Church, where he served as worship leader, song leader, and chairman of the worship committee. He also served as a Sunday School teacher, youth sponsor and on the Church Council. From 1977 to 1992, he was a member of God’s Own Gospel Quartet where he ministered in music throughout northern Indiana. He was an active supporter of Fairfield Music Boosters, Fairfield Marching Pride and Fairfield Music. He also served six years on the Elkhart County Rabbit Club Advisory Board, including two terms as president. Weldy is survived by his wife Linda of New Paris, son Curtis James Weldy of New Paris, daughter Shawn Elizabeth Weldy of New Paris, sister Sandra (Lonnie) Allen of Gary, Pat (Dale) Blucker of Nappanee, Susan (Donriie) Wallace of Millersburg, and Debra (Greg) Florentino of Elkhart. The funeral took place at the Nappanee North Main Street Mennonite Church Monday, March 8. Burial followed at a private family gravesite at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery. Pastor Ruben Chupp and Pastor Derrick Ramer of the North Main Street Mennonite Church officiated.

Wilma Belle Ervin March 3, 2004 NAPPANEE Wilma Belle Ervin, 85, of Nappanee, passed away Wednesday, March 3 at 8:45 p.m. at the LuAnn Nursing Home in Nappanee. She was born Dec. 6, 1918 in Nappanee to Wayne Senff and Bessie Bowman. She married Russell Ervin Aug. 28, 1937 in Nappanee. She was a homemaker and worked at Johnson’s, Kroger’s and Thornburg’s as well as Avon. Ervin was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church, the Lyceum Club in Nappanee and the Nappanee American Legion Post 154 Women’s Auxiliary. Ervin is survived by her husband Russell, sons Russell Wayne “Butch” (Marianna) Ervin of Nappanee, Kenton (Jill) Ervin of Nappanee; son-in-law Kent Beehler of Nappanee, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Ervitrwas preceded in death by daughter Jeanette Beehler, sister Fern Marie Senff and half-sister Ruth Kennedy. The funeral took place at Nappanee United Methodist Church Sunday, March 7. Burial followed at Union Center Cerhetery. Rev. David Harrold of Nappanee United Methodist Church officiated. Memorials may be sent to the Nappanee United Methodist Church or Southern Care Hospice. Dersch, 79, of Elkhart, passed away March 2 at 12:50 p.m. at Valley View Health Care in Elkhart. He was born May 11, 1924 in Toledo, Oh. to Bernard Dersch and Laura Rubadeaux. He had lived in the Nappanee area since 1978. He was married to Annette Ingle for 13 years. Dersch was retired from the Bremen Bearing SKF Division and was a World War II Marine veteran. Dersch is survived by ex-wife Annette Ingle Groning of Elkhart, sons Michael A. Dersch of Elkhart and Robert J. Dersch of Greenville, S.C., a sister Verna Member of Perrysburg, Ohio, and brother Robert (Nancy) Dersch of Bristol, Va. He is also survived by one grandson. Dersch was preceded in death by sisters Ona Mae Stahal and Kathryn Hassen. The funeral took place at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home Saturday, March 6. Burial followed at Union Center Cemetery. Rev. Steven Holmes of the Pillar of Fire Church officiated. Dersch attended the Nappanee Church of God and was a member of the Nappanee American Legion Post 154. Memorials may be sent to the Bernard Dersch Memorial Fund. Charlene “Char” D. Manges March 2, 2004 NAPPANEE Charlene D. Manges, 63, of Nappanee, passed away Tuesday, March 2 at 5:12 p.m. at LuAnn Nursing Home in Nappanee. She was born Aug. 30, 1940 in Nappanee to Morris Nine and Dorothy Oswalt. Manges was a waitress at Ossie’s, the Wayside Inn, Eddie’s Main Grill and the Shortstop Inn. She was a former member of the Nappanee VFW Post 6638 and was a member of the Nappanee American Legion Post 154. Manges is survived by daughter Penny (Colin) Eddinger of Nappanee, sons Todd (Tina) Stutzman of Nappanee and Cris Manges of Nappanee, brothers Kim (Kathy) Nine of Nappanee and Doug (Judy) Nine of Elkhart, sisters Sandy McLaine of Stocton, Calif., and Tina Nine of Stocton, Calif. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by sister Norma O’Haver and brothers Dan Nine and Butch Nine. The funeral was held at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee Friday, March 5. Burial followed at Stony Point Cemetery. Rev. Janet McFall-Brown of Mt. Tabor Church of God officiated. Memorials may be sent to Elkhart General Hospice. Terry Allan Hollar February 28, 2004 FROSTBURG, MD Terry Allan Hollar, 36, of Frostburg, M.D. died Saturday, Feb. 28 in his home. Born Nov. 7, 1967 to Bill Hollar of Nappanee and Beverly (Hepler) Merritt of Palestine, Texas. Hollar is survived by Bill Hollar, Beverly Merritt and his natural father Terry Hoopingarner of Middlebury. Hollar is also survived by his wife Melissa Ann (Stanton) Hollar, step-son Ronald Dewain Smith, Jr; and step-daugh-ters Misty Ann Smith and Chrissa Ann Stanton, half-brothers Corey and Noah Hoopingarner, half-sisters Holly Drake, Sha’nin Willis and husband and Michaela (Joseph) Morrow. He is also survived by his ste-grandmother Diane Hepler of Nappanee, and his aunt and uncle Pam and Trevor Smith of Warsaw. The funeral took place at Newman Funeral Homes in Grantsville, MD. on Thursday, March 4. Local visitation took place at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee on Sunday, March 7.
