'This is always a special evening for us,” Yoda. “It is especially so this yew as we recognize Joy Wegand for ova 25 years of service and support for the library. Joy started working in the Heritage Centa typing obituaries soon after she moved to Nappanee from England 26 years ago. She has since helped and supported the library in so many ways, including all of the work she and ha husband James did in the Heritage Centa and the many years Joy has served as a tutor in the Nappanee Volunteers for Literacy program. It is because of special people like Joy Weygand that we are able to offer so many services to the community." Yoda went on to thank Weygand for tutoring so many to speak “propa English.” Weygand will soon be returning to England, and she will be receiving the Advance News white there as a special thank-you gift from the library. Yoda noted that on average 400 people visit the library each day and that in the past year 638 programs were held for children and adults. ‘Those are amazing numbers for a community this size and for a staff this size!” said Yoda.
