Holy Walk brings Christmas to life
BREMEN Like decorated trees, candy canes and mistletoe, the Holy Walk in Bremen is a cherished Christmas tradition for many families. The Bremen area churches will join together this
December 19 and 20 to host another reenactment of a journey from Judea to Bethlehem, a journey of love. The Holy Walk begins at the Bremen High School gymnasium, where the crowds are entertained while they wait to board buses, which leave every 15 minutes throughout the evening. Once on board a bus, a guide shares the biblical history of the walking journey they are about to
take, and Christmas carols are sung on the way to Bethlehem. Travelers are first greeted by Roman soldiers, who become an ever-present harassment throughout the rest of the walk. The groups of participants then become families traveling from some part of Judea to Bethlehem to pay taxes, as commanded by the emperor. And there are no exceptions, not even for a young pregnant Mary, whom travelers meet on their way. During their journey, participants will also encounter

Official Holy Walk hours are 6-9 p.m. Friday and 5:30 to 9 on Saturday. No reservations will be taken and no admission is charged. BATTERY, RESISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT On Nov. 26 at 9:52 p.m., the Nappanee Police Department received a 911 call reporting a physical fight between a man and a woman in the east side of Tracer’s parking lot, located at 1066 E. Lincoln Street. The caller advised that the male was refusing to let the female leave, and was physically assaulting her. Upon the arrival of Sgt. Matt Tice and Ptl. Joshua Hamer, the suspect, later identified as Scotti Ransom, was seen confining the victim to the front seat of his car, refusing to allow her to leave. Hamer ordered Ransom to exit the vehicle, and when he did, he began fleeing on foot from the officers. After the officers yelled at Ransom, warning him that Ali, Nappanee Police K-9 would be released if he didn’t stop, Ransom continued to run. It took Ali only a short distance to catch and apprehend Ransom. «• After Ransom was restrained he was treated for his injuries, and transported to the EMforiGduhty Security Center where he is fodng charges of Felony Criminal Confinement Barter, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Public Intoxication. MOTIONS PASSED In cooperation with the Elkhart County Health Department Wa-Nee Schools will provide its facilities and equipment during a public health emergency (weapons attack, disease outbreak, natural disaster). School buildings and grounds would provide the area (parking lots, gymnasium, cafeteria, classrooms, hallways) and facilities (refrigeration, heating, restrooms) for mass vaccination clinics or other health-related interventions. Bids will be advertised for repairs to the Northwood Tennis Courts. Due to major cracks, resurfacing must be done to keep the courts usable and safe. Temporary repairs will be made until project completion in Fall 2004. MEETING CHANGE The next school board meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Wakarusa Elementary School. A tour of Northwood Middle School will be held prior to the meeting at 5:30 p.m.
