Elder Haus offers daily activities for seniors • ! All senior members of the community are invited to become active in tljc many programs of Nappanee's senior center. Elder Haus, located at 252 E*. Market St. The center is open Monday through Friday. The telephone number is 773-2424. \ All kinds of games are available at the center, including Uno. Skip-80, RJn)k. Yahtzee, and a jigsaw puzzle is always in the works. * Quilting takes place all day on Monday and Friday. You are invited to bring a sack lunch and stay all day. There is a microwave available for heating soups and sandwiches. \ Pinochle is enjoyed at I p.m. Mondays, and Euchre and other games at I'p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and enjoy Bingo with the group on Wednesday. Please bring at least two gifts worth $1 each. ! Friday is “Volunteer Day," with opportunity given for cutting stamps for recycling, and for quilting and visiting. The stamps are given to the stamp c(gb that meets at the Nappanee Public Library. Persons who have old struops tucked away may donate them —they are glad to have these items. exercises are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10a.m. and volunteer day is held on Friday with quilting, stamp cutting or visiting. Crocheted items may also be turned in. Friday is also the day when “Gifts From Andy" are prepared, beginning at 10 a.m. Anyone who would like to share in this, please come by patterns and yam are available at the center. If you would like to have your name added to the mailing list, to receive the center's monthly calendar of activities, please call 773-2424. The center also provides taxi service, for needed trips to the grocery, doctor, etc., as well as for visiting friends. Please do not schedule appointments on Mondays or Thursdays between 11 a.m.-l p.m.. since the taxi is used for trips to REALServices meals at that time. The van is available from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays.

Scholarship program moved from spring to fall

ELKHART The Miss Elkhart County Scholarship Program w ill become a fall event, as voted by the board of directors. The date change from spring to fall will allow more preparation time for the annual Miss Indiana Scholarship Program in June. The tentative date for the Miss Elkhart County Scholarship Program is Nov. 22 and will be held at Jimtown Jr. High auditorium. .The program is open to all single young women between the ages of 17-24 who are American citizens and plan on continuing their education following high school graduation. Community education set to begin

► Learn a new SKILL THIS YEAR NAPPANEE Whether a person is interested in exercising the body or the mind, Wa-Nee Community Education programs will be offering a wide variety of classes beginning Jan. 13. A cooperative effort of Wa-Nee Community Schools, the Wakarusa and Nappanee Public Libraries, Ivy Tech State College, and the Nappanee Area and Wakarusa Chambers of Commerce, classes range from one day events to weekly sessions. Many classes fill up quickly, so now is the time to choose your classes and register. Brochures are available at the Wa-Nee Community School Administration office, the Nappanee Area Chamber of Commerce, Nappanee Public Library. Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce, Wakarusa Public Library and area businesses, or you may find more information and even register on-line at www.nappanee.lib.in.us. FITNESS - FREE Aerobics will start with a 15 minute warm-up, low impact aerobic training and continue with a 30-40 minute low to mid-impact aerobic workout with a combination of strength training for upper, mid and lower body isolation of each muscle.

Class will conclude with a 5-10 minute cool-down. Participants are asked to commit to the three sessions each week for the sevenweek period. Classes are held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from Jan. 13 through Feb. 27, 6-7 p.m. at the Nappanee Area Chamber of Commerce second floor. Admission is free. POWERPOINT - S4O Learn how to create, modify, and present an impressive, animated slide show in this full-day workshop taught by Jill Flaugher. Students will discover many new features in the 2000 version 6f the software and leant how to create and print handouts.
