Wakarusa FBCU sponsors ninth annual open house

WAKARUSA The ninth Annual Happy Holidays Open House, sponsored by Farm Bureau Credit Union, is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13. The day-long event will be held at all six credit union offices, including Wakarusa. The open house showcases the credit union's holiday service project initiative, “Hometown Giving Caring for Kids," allowing members and friends the opportunity to learn more about the project and even bring their donations in that day. In addition, the credit union will serve holiday refreshments and have the popular dated ornaments available. This year the credit union is committed to several local agencies who help children and families in our communities Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS), the Elkhart County Women’s Shelter, the Boys and Girls Club, Shop-With-A-Cop, and Basher Children's Home. In addition, the credit union is sponsoring a non-perishable food drive

Nappanee Public Library holds ‘Lunch n’ Learn 1

NAPPANEE The Wa-Nee Community Education program will hold its monthly Lunch n’ Leant health seminar at the Nappanee Public Library on Monday, Dec. 16 at noon. Goshen Health System Counselor, Carl Bell, will share a presentation entitles “Cancer 202,” which will explore the events in the past 200 years that have altered the public’s perception of cancer and resulted in advancements in treatments.

at all office locations. In Wakarusa. donations will go to the Family Christian Development Center. Children at all FBCU offices will receive a special gift. To benefit the service projects, the FBCU staff is taking part in a raffle and dress-down days. Members are being solicited to purchase “paper ornaments” for $1 each which are then hung in the lobbies. The credit union has made corporate donations to each of the organizations and the funds raised also go to the service project agencies. Large donation bins sit in the lobbies at all FBCU offices, and are heaped with toys, food, clothing, books and other items our staff and members bring in to benefit the projects. “Wish lists.” which have been provided by the project agencies, are available at the credit union offices. The monetary donations and gifts will be accepted throughout the holiday season.

The Nappanee Area Chamber of Commerce, Nappanee Public Library and Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Goshen Health System will sponsor this seminar. No registration is required, and participants are encouraged to bring their own sack lunch.
