Kathryn Susan Clark Nov. 11,1947 - Nov. 25,2002 ELKHART Kathryn Susan Gark, 55, Valley View Health Care, 333 W. Mishawaka Rd„ Elkhart, died Nov. 25 at Elkhart General Hospital after an unexpected illness. Bom Nov. 11,1947 in Millen, Ga.. she was the daughter of Harry Sr. and Sara (McDaniel) Woodward and had lived in the area since March. She had previously lived most of her life in Poysippi and Neenah, Wis. She was the previous owner of Heart ‘N Home, a craft store. Surviving are a daughter. Phoebe (George) Muthart of Bremen; a son, Ry Gark of lonia, Mich.; her father, Harry Woodward Sr., of Georgia.; a sister, Martha (Rick) Steinway of Neenah, Wis.; two brothers; Woody (Kathy) Woodward of WmterHaven, Fla. and Harry (Anna) Woodward, Jr. of Georgia; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service, conducted by . Father Robert Dombrowski, of Saint Dominic Catholic Church, was held at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home Saturday, Nov. 30. The body was cremated following the services. Memorials be sent to Alzheimer’s Association. Orbin "Jack" Hoffer Sept. 27,1988 • Nov 28,2002 NAPPANEE Orbin “Jack” Hoffer, 104, of 13143 North 750 West died at 1:50 p.m. at his residence from a brief illness. Jack was bom on Sept. 27, 1898 to in Nappanee, the son of Tully and Banka (Hepler) Hoffer. He was a lifetime area resident. Jack married Dorothy Stahly on Valentine’s Day, 1921, in Nappanee. Jack was a retired farmer and carpenter and was also a member of the First Mennonite Church in Nappanee. Jack is also survived by sons Robert (Beverly) Hoffer of Nappanee and Keith (Eleanor) Hoffer of Ocklawa, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Buelah Flowers and Frieda Miller and by brothers Dewey and Dallas Hoffer. Visitation was held Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in ThompsonLengacher and Yoder Funeral Home. Services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Stahl officiating. Burial followed at Union Center Cemetery. Memorials can be made to First Mennonite Church. Martha Mae Troxel Aug. 18,1911 - Nov. 26,2002 GOSHEN Martha Mae Troxel, 91, Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, died November 26 at Goshen General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Bom August 18,1911 in Syracuse, she was the daughter of Burt and Ina (Kelly) Swank and moved to Syracuse in 1989 from Nappanee. She retired from Coppes Manufacturing after 25 years of service. Surviving are two daughters: Ina (Dick) Hanford, Syracuse and Mary Ellen (Aldon) Miller, Bremen; seven grandchildren and several great-grand-children. i She was preceded in death by a son, John Troxel in 1987. A graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Harlan Steffen, was held on November 29 at Syracuse Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the donor's choice. James F. Thomas Oct. 7,1928 - Nov. 27, 2002 ELKHART James F. Thomas, 74, of 249 Oakland Ave., Nappanee, died at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27,2002 at Elkhart General Hospital following a short illness. James was bom Oct. 7, 1928 in South Bend, Ind., the son of Ray Fredrick and Nettie F. (Miller) Thomas. James married Maxine Joy on Feb. 2, 1946 in Syracuse, Ind. She preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2002. A lifelong area resident, James was retired after 10 years from Nappanee Power Company and 29 years with United Telephone Company. He had also owned Jim’s Electric Service in Nappanee for many years. James was a 4-H Rabbit Club leader and attended Nappanee Missionary Church. Survivors include: a daughter, Tracy (Ray) Stutzman; a daughter-in-law, Connie Thomas; three grandchildren. Candy (Doug) Daniels, James (Robin) Thomas and Jonathan Stutzman; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Trenton Thomas, all of Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a son, James F. Thomas, Jr., two sisters, Mary Willia&ns and Donna Thomas, and one brother, Raymond Thomas. Visitation was held at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee on Dec. 1 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, Dec. 2 from 910 a.m. A funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Marvin Engbrecht of Nappanee Missionary Church officiating. Burial followed at Union Center Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Nappanee Missionary Church.

Twila L Welty June 19, 1912-Ok. 1,2002 NAPPANEE Twila L. Welty, 90, LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee. died Sunday, Dec. 1 at her residence. Born June 19,1912 in Nappanee, she was the daughter of Amos and Sara (Blosser) Welty and was a lifetime area resident. She married Ira “Ike” Burckhart in 1939, who preceded her in death in March 1944. Her second marriage was to Charles Welty on April 30, i 977, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27,2002. She formerly worked at Uline Manufacturing in Nappanee and Land-O-Lakes in New Paris, and was also a cook at LuAnn Nursing Home in Nappanee. She was a lifetime member of North Main Street Mennonite Church, a member of the Cable Stitch Gub and the Sewing Circle at North Main Street Mennonite Church. Surviving are two sons: Keith Burckhart of Wakarusa and Larry Burckhart of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchil-dren; two step-sons, Wayne Welty of Winona Lake and Carlisle Welty of Lake Toxaway, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Norma (Loyal) Ressler of Nappanee and Phyllis (Edgar) Miller of White Pigeon, Mich.; six stepgrandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son; a brother, Paul Welty; a sister, Bemiece Yoder and a step daughter, Carolyn Welty. A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Ruben Chupp and assisted by the Rev. Randy Murray from Otville, Ohio, will be held at North Main Street Mennonite Church on Thursday, Dec. 5. Funeral arrangements were made through Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home of Nappanee. Burial will take place at Martin’s Mennonite Church Cemetery in Orville, Ohio on Friday, Dec. 6. Memorials may be sent to North Main Street Mennonite Church. Terry E. Bussard Jan. 9, 1953 - Nov. 23, 2002 CROMWELL Terry E. Bussard, 48, 9252 Wizard of Oz Way, Cromwell, died Saturday, Nov. 23 at his home. Bom Jan. 9, 1953 in Elkhart, he was the son of Charles and Joyce (Routson) Bussard and was a lifetime area resident. He married Rhonda Biltz on Aug. 9, 1998 in Syracuse, who also passed away at her home on Saturday. • He was a 1972 graduate of North Wood High School and was a computer systems analysis for Agri Stats in Fort Wayne. He was also a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran serving in Okinawa, Japan. Terry was a member of the Syracuse American Legion Post 0223 and enjoyed boating, golfing and motorcycles. Surviving are: a son, Charles E. Bussard of Elkhart; a daughter, Emily Bell of Wakarusa; his mother, Joyce Bussard of Wakarusa; a grandmother, Margaret Routson of Hubbard Hill in Elkhart; a sister, Kim (Scott) Cheatham of Wilmington, Calif, and a brother, Camron Bussard of Irvine, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles and a brother, Don Bussard. A memorial service, conducted by the Rev. Harlan Steffen, of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, was held at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. The body was cremated and the ashes were buried in the Union Center Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Terry Bussard Memorial Fund.
