Police News LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR CHILD ABUSE Nappanee Police arrested Anthony (Tony) Crum. 36, Lot 17 Meadows Mobile Home Park. Nappanee. for felony battery to a child. On Nov. 28. the police department received a call reporting possible child abuse. Officer Bill Bickel and Josh Hamer responded to Lot 17 to investigate this'allegation. The officers determined that Crum did strike a child who was less than 13 years of age. causing physical injury to the child. Crum was subsequently arrested and charged with battery to a minor, a Class D felony. Crum was taken to the Elkhart County Security Center where he is being held on a $3,000 bond pending a probable cause hearing.

Christmas Jubliee is here again

NAPPANEE The Family Christian Development Center's Christmas Jubilee is here again. Drop boxes have been placed in several area businesses, factories, the Nappanee Public Library and Family Christian Development Center. Donations of new. unused toys can be made at these locations and will be distributed to families living in the Wa-Nee School District Dec. 14. Along with toys, other items such as Bibles, blankets, quilts, fresh oranges and other food items have been donated by civic groups, schools, churches and individuals. These items will be available for parents to take with them for families this season. Monetary donations are always welcome and will be ‘used for local families. Again this year, the center is experiencing a large and growing number of families w ho need assistance. The center is expecting to serve over 500 children at this year's Christmas Jubilee. Last year over 5,000 toys were collected and distributed to children in the Wa-Nee school district. Your help is indeed needed to ensure that every child in our community has a Christmas gift under the tree. Because of the growing number of families in need in our community. the center is pleased to partner with the Nappanee Boys and Girls Club for the first time. The
