Special events KIMKEISER photos The NorthWood' High School Red Regiment recently completed its 2002 competition show. However, a number of special events coming up have sparked the group to continue its outstanding season. The Performing Arts Department at NWHS will sponsor a special "Prism" showing of the Regiment in its fall, award-winning presentation "Niagara Falls," Saturday, November 16, 7p.m„ in the high school gymnasium. Be prepared for special effects and videos, along with spectacular music, as this outstanding group shows its stuff once again, under the direction of Director Barry Houser, In addition, NWHS will host the Saturday, November 23, 22nd annual All-Region Honor Band Festival. Red Regiment to march in Thanksgiving Day Parade
The North Wood High School band is pleased to announce that the Red Regiment has been selected to perform at the annual Target Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago. This parade takes place on Thanksgiving Day and will be nationally televised to more than 40 million viewers throughout the nation and will have approximately 300.000 spectators on the streets of Chicago. The Red Regiment was selected to march in this parade based on their performance at the 2002 Indianapolis 500 Parade and through their excellence in music throughout the year. The band will be departing from Nappanee on Wednesday. November 27 and will return Friday. November 29. Activities while in Chicago include a formal banquet for all parade participants, touring the city, shopping and possibly seeing Radio City Music's Christmas Spectacular. Hosts All-Region Honor Band Festival
The Indiana Bandmasters Association will be presenting their 22nd Annual All-Region Honor Band Festival. This year the North Central Site will be held at North Wood High School in Nappanee. Barry Houser, the director of bands at North Wood. will be the host director and Rob Shaver from Tipton Middle School will be the guest conductor. The All-Region Honor Bands provide an excellent opportunity for area music students to have their talents recognized, perform with other outstanding young musicians, and work with highly respected music educators and conductors. The festival starts on Saturday, November 23 with rehearsals throughout the day and ends on Sunday. November 24 with the AllRegion Honor Band presenting a concert at 4p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free concert to support the great achievements of these fine musicians.
