Yehl each added six. senior Jake Eby four and junior Heath Yoder two. in a contest which saw the Panthers put 21 points on the scoreboard in the first quarter alone. As usual, the Black Crunch defensive effort was impressive, with the "D" hauling in two pass interceptions, one for a score, and forcing their guests to punt eight times, while allow ing just 71 yards of offense. Dodson reported. "We've lost a couple of games this year, but it wasn't due to poor defense. Overall, they have been the strength of our team.” However, the Panther offense also turned in impressive totals, racking up 310 yards rushing and another 93 through the air. for an

By Ron Haromia CHNI Sports NAPPANEE The further a football team gets in the playoffs, naturally the competition gets tougher. That is certainly the case for North Wood High in their Class 3-A sectional. After easily disposing of a Lakeland Higfi team with only two wins on the year, the Panthers travel to Mentone this Friday night to take on a .500 Tippecanoe Valley team (5-5), with an eye toward two 7-3 teams (SB St. Joseph's or Whitko) for the sectional crown. Tippy Valley is coming off an impressive win of their own, defeating Mishawaka Marian by the score of 40-14 last Friday.

“They are more of a run-ori-ented team," said Panther head coach Rich Dodson. "(Jon) Rice is a good running back for them. They like to run misdirection plays and what I call 'motion sweeps', where they put a guy in motion, then hand off to him." Rice ran for 138 yards and five TDs (the longest a 43yarder) against Marian. "We will need to get them into passing situations," continued Dodson. "We cannot allow them to have second-and-short (because of a long running e Panthers hope to continue their winning ways with the same formula they have been
