Samuel E. Perkins I. (1811-1879). was Judge of Indiana Superior Court. Future generations have resided on Lake Maxinkuckee since 1917. Samuel E. Perkins, IV, Esquire, the great grandson of Samuel E. Perkins I, and his wife Mary, whose estate we are liquidating, had a noteable history also: Mrs. Perkins worked in the 1930's for the Works Progress Administration and was once a guest of Mrs. Roosevelt at a White House Garden Party. Mr. Perkins was a graduate of Culver Military Academy and went on to a distinguished career with the U.S. Government, beginning in the early 1930's with the Department of Commerce, moving on to the U. S. Civil Service Commission, serving active duty with the U. S. Navy during WWII, and finishing his career as a member of the Foreign Services, both in Pans & Brussels. Following this he served with the U. S. Naval Reserves until his retirement as Commander in 1969. The Perkins' Estate represents a wonderful collection of antiques and decorator items.
