Dr. Robert Abel honored by state 4-H foundation

PHOTO PROVIDED Academic honors The Nappanee Rotary Club sponsored the North Wood High School Academic Teams Honors Banquet Thursday, May 9 at Dal-Mar Banquet Hall. The teams were recognized for their yearly NLC accomplishments and state records. The teams have been acknowledged for their achievements in recent editions of the Advance News. Police Reports
Nappanee Police arrested Walter Larue. 38. Warsaw, for habitual traffic violator and possession of marijuana. On May 16, Officer Stephen Rulli and Officer Joshua Hamer pulled a vehicle over in the 200 block of S. Main St. for an inadequate muffler. The driver. Mr. Larue, was found to be a habitual traffic violator, a class D felony. Within Mr. Larue's vehicle officers found a partially burnt handrolled cigarette that tested positive for the presence of marijuana. It was also discovered that Mr. Larue had a prior conviction of marijuana. He was charged with felony possession of marijuana, operating a vehicle while habitual traffic violator, possession of paraphernalia, false or fictitious registration and operating a vehicle without financial responsibility. Mr. Larue was transported to the Elkhart County Security Center where he is being held on $6,000 bond

pending a probable cause hearing. 0.W.1. On May 16. Nappanee Police arrested Leonard L. Perry, 48. Granger, for operating while intoxicated. At approximately 8:52p.m., Patrolman Tony Schmucker stopped a white Dodge Dakota in the area of Main St. and Vanßuren St. for improper lane usage. Upon speaking to the driver, Mr. Perry, police found that he had been drinking. After failing several field sobriety tests. Mr. Perry was transported to the Nappanee Police Department for a certified chemical test. Mr. Perry failed the test and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. He was then transported to the Elkhart County Security Center on $1,500 bond.
