The showcase garden will be transformed into a winter wonderland—complete with a windmill and a drawbridge over a pond. Over one thousand poinsettias fill the showcase garden with the wintry beauty while a majestic tree made entirely of poinsettias stands as sentinel to the snowy landscape. The poinsettias will range in color from white to pink to red. according to Andy Force, showcase designer and supervisor of floriculture for the Botanical Conservatory. Special varieties include

Santa returns to Fernwood

Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve recently announced the return of Santa to its Lights Before Christmas Festival. Santa can be visited in the Winter House during the festival, which opens to the public on December 7. The festival continues from Thursday to Sunday weekly from 6:309p.m. (last admission at 8:30) through December 23. During the festival Fernwood’s grounds will be decorated with its much loved colorful light displays depicting garden and nature scenes. This year's Lights Before Christmas will feature new displays on the South Vista, which has not been decorated for several years. “We are busy preparing for our best festival in years and are looking forward to welcoming the entire community to Fernwood during the holiday." said Peter van der Linden.
