Joseph L. Bower Jaseph L. Bower. 84, formerly of Nappanee, died following an illness on Sunday. July 2, 2000 at 11:30 p.m. at Mason Health Care. Warsaw, where he had resided since February. He was born Dec. 17. 1915 in Whitley County to Abner Theodore and Emma Elizabeth Egolf Bower. He had been a lifetime area resident. On Feb. 25, 1940 in Etna Green, he married Chloie Thompson, She preceded him in death Nov. 16, 1994. He was retired from Burns Construction Company in Macy. He had also worked at Nappanee Milling Company and Yoder Kitchens in Nappanee. He was a member of Mount Taber Church of God, REMC of Kosciusko County and a former advisory board member of Prairie Township. Survivors include two sons. Bill and Helen Walters of Warsaw and James Walters; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth and Howard Watson of Edwardsburg and Doris Menzie of Elkhart; and two brothers. Jerimiah “Jerry" Bower of Columbia City and Theodore ‘Ted’’ Bower of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by two infant sisters and two brothers. Jay and Lawrence Bower. Visitation was held Tuesday, July 4, 2000 at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home. Nappanee. and one hour prior to services. Services were held Wednesday, July 5. 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Tabor Church of God followed by burial at Hepton Union Cemetery, Nappanee. The Rev. Rick Pride officiated, assisted by the Rev. Dale Swartzendruber. Memorial contributions may be made to Kosciusko County Hospice. Jerry D. Boyer Jerry D. Boyer. 17, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000 at 2:06 a.m. at the scene of an accident at U.S. 30 and Fir Road in Marshall County. Jerry was bom on Jan. 26, 1983 in Bremen to Larry Lawton and Karen Boyer. A lifetime Bremen resident, he was a student at Bremen High School. He worked at Subway in Bremen. Survivors include his mother, Karen Lawton of Bremen; a brother, Charles Boyer of Bremen; a sister, Dawn Boyer of Bremen; a nephew, Blake Boyer of LaGrange; and a grandmother, Georgia Crandall of

Jared Adam Brandi Jared Adam Brandi, 23, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000 at 23)6 a.m. at the scene of an accident at U.S. 30 and Fir Road in Marshall County. Jared was bom on Nov. 4, 1976 in Bremen to Richard and Jolana Clark Brandi. A lifetime Nappanee resident, he was a construction worker. Survivors include his parents; a son. Drew Allen Brandi of Bremen; a friend, Lisa Erickson of Bremen; two sisters. Brandy Brandi of Nappanee and Amanda Brandi of Nappanee; and his grandparents. Steve Clindaniel, pastor of the County Line Assembly of God, officiated. Burial followed in Violet Cemetery in Goshen. Memorial gifts may be made to the donor’s choice. Rowena L. Sharkey Rowena L. Sharkey, 95, residing on Greencroft Drive, Goshen, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at 3:15 a.m. at Goshen General Hospital, where she was a patient for two weeks. Rowena was bom Dec. 4, 1904 in Decatur to Edwin F. and Esther J. Eberett Miller. She moved to the Nappanee area in 1948. On Nov. 22, 1948 she was married to Vernon P. Sharkey in Nappanee. He preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1990. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1923 and Purdue University in 1927. She taught home economics in Indiana and was a missionary teacher in Mississippi and

North Carolina. She was a memher of Retired Teachers Association of Elkhart County. Nappanee United Methodist Church, Thesbians Group at Greencroft, and Home Echoes Club of Nappanee. She was also a member of Home Demonstration Club and was selected as Senior Homemaker of the Year in 1977. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Juanita Morris of Goshen and Betty Redman of Elkhart; a brother, Kenneth Miller of Columbia, MO; a niece, Joan Hullar of Ithica, NY; a nephew, Gerald Miller of Maryland Heights, MO; and several stepgrandchildren. A memorial service was held at Gathering Place in Evergreen Place at Greencroft on Sunday, July 9, 2000. The Rev. Bryan Bucher of First United Methodist, Goshen officiated. Cremation took place. Burial followed at Union Center at a later date. Memorials may be made to Goshen Boys & Girls Club or donor’s choice. Donald M. Cleveland Donald M. Cleveland, 80, residing on Old 30, died Sunday, July 9, 2000 at 10:48 a.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for four days. He had been ill for two years. Donald was bom Sept. 20, 1919 in Nappanee to Glen and Edith Morheiser Cleveland. He was a lifetime resident of Nappanee and Sebring, FL. He was first married to Wave Anglin. They were divorced. She preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1988. He was then married to Bonnie Grubbs Lingofelteron Aug. 27,1981. A graduate of Nappanee High School, he was retired owner and operator of Trump Cleaners in Nappanee. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member and past commander of Nappanee American Legion Post 154. He was also a member of Nappanee VFW No. 6638. Survivors include his wife. Bonnie Cleveland; a son. Jan Cleveland of Nappanee; his stepchildren, Teresu Cosgrove of Warsaw. Mark and Cindy Lingofelter of Nappanee und Penni and Mark Cloud of Edwardsburg, MI; three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Vera was born Sept. 19, 1912 in Bremen to Adam and Irene Hepler Kuhn. She has resided in Bremen since 1948, coming from Plymouth. On Feb. 27, 1940 she was married to Alvin A. Hiatt in Plymouth. He survives. A housewife, she was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Woodland. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis and Phillip Grove of Bremen and Shirley Harringer of Bremen; five grandchildren; and six great-grand-children.
