List dart league results The following results have been announced by the Torch Lounge Dart League, for play as of January 3. Pud Main and Mary Jo Shumaker are in first place with 51 points, followed by Bob Whitsel and Sis Laudeman at 44, Rich and Aldona Martin 40, Bo and Jo Glover 29, Randy and Kathy Richmond 25 and Carlos Benevidez and Arlene Wagner 21. Goshen takes frosh game Joel Richart and Jordan Adams each chipped in 10 points, but it wasn’t enough, as the freshman boys’ basketball team fell to Goshen, 51-36, in a game played January 6. While the Redskins were advancing to 4-3 on the season, the Panthers dropped to 6-3. Thom Berheisel led the winners with a game-high 16 points, with teammate Bryan Knight chipping in 12. Frosh impressive at 11 -0 Leah Harman pumped in 16 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to pace the 11-0 Panther freshman girls’ basketball team to a 48-22 win over Mishawaka Marian last week. Kami Odle added eight points and six rebounds, while Mary Egging and Andrea Jenkins each scored six for the winners. The Panther take their game on the road to Wawasee Thursday, January 13, for Northern Lakes Conference competition with the Warriors. Tipoff is set for 6:30p.m. Clay tops ‘Black Swish’ South Bend Clay’s varsity girls’ basketball team slipped by Coach Steve Neff and crew in a game played last week at Clay. The hosts dropped the Panthers to 7-3 on the season, while advancing to 10-2 with the 50-40 victory. For the Panthers, Carol Duncan was the lone player in double figures, with 13. Andee Morris added nine, Kasey Chamberlin and Shelly Stichter each six, Katie Chamberlin four and Carrie Haney two for North Wood. In the JV contest, the Panthers won 48-29, moving to 7-3 on the sea.son, while their hosts dropped to 4-8. The young Panthers were led by Cort Sandy and Steph Mast each with 10 and Leah Harmon with nine. Continue league action Following a holiday break, action has continued in the North Wood Panther Basketball League, with Saturday, January 8 action finding the Pistons topping the Bulls, 24-10. While the Pistons move to 7-1 on the season, the Bulls are winless in seven outings. Leading the way for the winners was Kurt Neufeld with 10 points, while Tylor Santos added seven, Alex BeMiller three, and Bob Hess and Chris Hoover two each. For the Bulls, Kyle Kaufman had six points and Kent Schaffer and Ttyler Slagel each two. The Pacers moved to 8-0 on the season with a 24-19 win over the 26 Spurs. Zach Troyer pumped in 16 points, while Josh Cahill added four and Darrick Hill and Brant Ehret each two. Adam Mast led the Spurs with seven, while teammate Tommy Kurtz scored four and Brant Gibson, Chris Hines. Chase Estepp and Sam St. Germain each two. The Lakers slipped by the Celtics 35-32 moving to 3-5 on the season, while the Celtics slipped to 4-4. The winners were led by Kelly Adams with 15 and Sam Montgomery 13, with Trey Andrews adding six and Daniel Mishler one. For the Celtics, Justin Anglemyer scored 15, Cory Reinhardt nine and David Stump and Nathan Brown each four. Cagers take on Goshen The North Wood Middle School basketball teams took on Goshen last week, with results from four games as follows. The seventh “A” slipped by Goshen 42-40, climbing to 10-1 on the season, while Goshen fell to 2-5. For the Panthers, Kirk Mast led with 11 points and five rebounds, while Aaron Hahn added eight points and two steals, Andy Flickinger six points, Trevor Shields and Landon Martin, each five and Trent Chupp three. Martin also added six rebounds and two assists. Seventh “B” was defeated 27-14, and slipped to 4-7 on the season. Clayton Cook had eight points and four rebounds to pace the Panthers, while Dan Schmucker added four points. Josh Sabo and Mike Bechtel combined for 20 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead the eighth “A” to a 47-36 win and extend the Panther win streak to 11 against no losses. Trent Mast pumped in nine points and grabbed four steals, while Josh Greenlee added six points, Phil BeMiller five points and five rebounds, Toby Mast four points, Scott Mast two and Josh Yoder one. Eighth “B” also advanced to 11-0 with a 37-28 victory over Goshen. Josh Leinbach led the offensive effort with 11 points, and he grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Brandon Hurst added seven points. Heath Yoder five, Mike Couse three, and Cody Burkholder, Adam Yehl, Blain McDowell, James Geleske, Thayne Grove and Jason Schutz each scored two.

Panther JV matmen earning first place finishes at the Northfield Junior Varsity Tournament included 125 Matt Metzler, 125 Phil Sumpter and 145 Kyle Lemier, all with 3-0 marks and 171 Mitch Royer at 2-0. Travis Hunsberger finished run-ner-up at 140 with a 2-1 record. At the Saturday, January 8 Fremont Invitational, Jesse Espinoza, at 112, finished first with a 3-0 record on the day. 119 Nick Roelandts was second at 2-1, 125 Troy Cox third at 3-1, 130 Brandon Gardner fourth at 22, 135 Ben Lehman did not place at 0-2, 140 Josh Snyder was third at 2-1, 145 Josh Metzler third at 31, 152 E.J. North Wood hosts Warsaw Thursday, January 13, at 6:30p.m., and then hits the road for meets at Plymouth JV Tourney, Concordia Invite, Concord and the Northern Lakes Conference meet at Warsaw. The Panthers return home Saturday, January 29, hosting a sectional tournament. l
