Stichter leads ‘Swish’ win
yt Led by a career high 13 point output from senior Shelly Stichter, tne NWHS girls’ varsity basketball team downed non-conference foe Lakeland, December 9,52-28. The win moved the Black Swish to 4-2 on the season (2-1 NLC), while Lakeland evened out at 3-3. Also in double figures for North Wood were Kasey Chamberlin with 12 and Katie Chamberlin at 10. Carol Duncan added six points, Natalie Nunemaker four, Carrie Haney three and Andee Morris and Cort Sandy two each. Lakeland was led by Kim ifynhler with 12 points. In the JV contest, the Panthers :11 short in a 34-22 contest, slipi ing to 3-3, while Lakeland’s JV is ying high at 5-0. I i 1 PSf I Young Panthers see action Seventh “A” slipped by Lincoln (Plymouth), 37-30, in a game played Tuesday, December 7, at NWMS. Kirk Mast led the Panthers with 12 points and three rebounds, while Trever Shields added nine points and four assists, Landon Martin seven points, Aaron Hahn five and Wes BeMiller four. Lincoln topped the seventh “B” squad 25-18. Nate Taylor and Elliot Lentz each had four points for NWMS. In the eighth “A” contest, the Panthers downed Lincoln 42-30, led by Phil BeMiller with 15 points and five rebounds. Also in double figures was Toby Mast with 13. Panthers adding to the win were Josh Sabo with six points, Michael Bechtel with four points, three steals and four assists, Tent Mast two points and three steals and scott Mast with two points. Eighth “B” more than doubled Lincoln’s score, winning 32-15, with a balanced scoring attack. Thayne Grove, Jason Schutz and Josh Davidhizar each had six points, with Grove also grabbing a team-high six rebounds. Adam Yehl added four points. The Panthers also had baskets from Cody Burkholder, Mike Couse, Blain McDowell, Heath Yoder and Branden Hurst, each with two. Seventh and eighth “B’ teams then took on Heritage December 9, with seventh falling 30-16, and eighth slipping by 33-32. In the seventh contest, Nate Taylor scored five points, Cody Yeiger four aqd Clayton Cpok three to pace the Panthers. For eighth, Josh Leinbach had six points, MikeCouse five, Cody Burkholder, Josh Greenlee and Heath Yoder each four and Jason Sehotz three. Sehotz also had four steals, as did Burkholder.

Volleyball teams compete Play in the Nappanee Women’s Volleyball Recreation Division as of December 6, found Deisinger’s Diggers squeezing past Aurora Cabinets 2-1. Aurora won the first game 15-11, but dropped the final two, 7-15 and 12-15. The Bouncers defeated Michiana Mattress 3-0, to even their record at 9-9. Mullet & Co. remained undefeated by hammering Miller’s Tbnt Rental 15-2, 15-2,15-4. Schwartz Electric defeated J.U.G. 3-0 to up their record to 15-3, while Nissley Designs rallied from a 14-16 first game setback to defeat Michelle’s Crew 15-2, 15-9. Plymouth Glass dealt Ron’s Lovin’ Oven a 3-0 loss, scoring IS-8, 15-8, 154 victories. Mullet & Co. leads the Power Division at 15-0, the lone undefeated squad, while Deisinger Diggers holds a commanding 144 edge in the Recreation Division. Troyer leads attack with 24 Action continued in the Panther basketball league December 4, with the Pacers slipping by the Pistons, 31-28. For the winners, Zach Troyer pumped in 24 points to lead the offense, while Darrick Hill added three and Carson Adcock and Phil Flickinger each two. Alex BeMiller and Kurt Neufeld led the Pistons, with 12 and 10 points respectively. Chris Hoover added six. The Lakers were victors over the Bulls, 36-27, led by Kelly Adams with 13 points. Trey Andrews added seven, Chad Menzie and Sam Montgomery each six and Scott Anglemyer four. For the Bulls, lyier Slagle was good for nine points, Kent Schaffer six, Brady Shively four and lyier Rensberger, James Wooley and Carl Hufford, two each. Kyle Kaufman also saw action for the Bulls. Justin Anglemyer led the Celtics past the Spurs, 24-17, by tossing in nine points. Other scoring came from Jay Sheets and Cory Reinhardt, four each, Nathan Brown three, and Curt Blosser and Adam Swihart, two apiece. For the Spurs, who featured a balanced scoring attack, Chase Estepp and Ryan Weaver each had four, while Adam Mast, Chris Hines, Scott Hepler and Cory Martin added two each and Brant Gibson had one.
