Bremen churches combine for annual Holy Walk
Like decorated trees, candy canes and mistletoe, the Holy Walk in Bremen is a cherished Christmas tradition for many families. The Bremen area churches will join together on the third weekend of December, to host another reenactment of a journey from Judea to Bethlehem—a journey of love. The Holy Walk traditionally begins at the Bremen High School gymnasium, where the crowds are entertained while they wait to board buses, which leave every 15 minutes throughout the evening. Once on board the bus, a guide shares the biblical history of the walking journey they are about to take, and Christmas carols are sung, on the way to Bethlehem. We had just moved away from home and it was just Linda and I and our two small children. Her parents showed up unexpectedly and we enjoyed our last Christmas with her mother. She died from cancer soon after that. We thought it was going to be a really sad Christmas alone but it turned out to be one of the most meaningful we've ever had." Larry Thompson Mayor of Nappanee

taxes, as commanded by the emperor. There are no exceptions —not even for a young, pregnant Mary, whom travelers meet on their way. During their journey, participants will also encounter shepherds, angels and wisemen—all part of the 300 persons in costume. When the crowds finally reach Bethlehem, they must visit a tax collector, who is mean and demanding. When travelers leave his tent, they head to the stable, in hope of rest, because there is no room at the inn. When they arrive at the stable, the travelers find the couple they
