NWMS gridders handle Fairfield
The eighth grade Panther football team blanked Fairfield last week, 31-0, in a contest played on the North Wood field. Troy Cox rushed once for 40 yards and scored a touchdown, to pace the Panther offense, while E.J. Yehl added 26 yards and intercepted a pass, running it back for a score. Adam Bumworth caught a fiveyard TD pass, and Jordan Adams ran back a punt 70 yards to paydirt. Josh Estepp rounded out the TD scoring with one. and added 17 rushing yards. Interceptions were also made by Kevin Yoder and Phil Sumpter, and Brandon Hall booted a PAT. For seventh, North Wood slipped by 18-6, led by Josh Sabo, who caught two passes from Phil
CMA stops Panther netters
Culver Military Academy's tennis team slipped by North Wood’s varsity, 3-2, in a match held last week at CMA. Peter Metz won at No. 1 singles for the Panthers, taking Dan Kauffman 6-2, 6-0. Walt Fales lost at the No. 2 position, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) (7-3), while Eric Reynolds fell at the No. 2 spot. 6-2. 2-6, 6-4. Chet Walters/Matt Sitek lost their No. I doubles matchup, 6-4, 6-0, while the No. 2 team of Nick Abel/Sean Clem won 6-3. 6-3.
