September 4, at approximately 7p.m., the Nappanee Police Department received a call in reference to suspicious subjects drinking alcohol near the playground of Meadows Mobile Home Park. Officers responded to find Steven E. Briscoe of 186 Meadows, along with another 15-year-old male. After a short investigation it was determined that both subjects had been drinking.

The 15-year-old male was charged with illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage. He was later released to his parents. Mr. Briscoe was found to be 21years of age and was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Mr. Briscoe was transported to the Elkhart County Security Center, where he was to be held on a SI,OOO bond pending an initial court date.
Truex proceeded to clear the intersection by turning south. The cycle then struck the passenger side rear of the car, and both the cycle driver and his passenger were thrown from the vehicle. According to a witness, the engine of the cycle wound up, as if it were trying to go faster to make the light before it turned red. Several other witnesses also stated that they did not even see the motorcycle until it was struck. Truex was uninjured, and Lemler and Null were both transported to Elkhart General Hospital by local ambulances. No arrests were made in the incident, which was covered by Nappanee Police Patrolmen Brook Germann and Matthew Tice, and Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Mike Carich.

Auditions set for children's roles at RBT
The Round Barn Theatre at Amish Acres will hold auditions for children's roles in “The Sound of Music,” Saturday, September 26. Anyone interested in auditioning should arrive by 9a.m., at The Round Barn Theatre, 1600 W. Market St., Nappanee. The theatre, Indiana's only musical repertory theatre, is seeking excellent singers who move well, for the following roles: Female roles (ages as indicated in script)—Liesl, age 16; Louisa, age 13; Brigitta. age 9; Marta, age 7 and Gretl. age 5 years or older. Male roles (ages as indicated in script-voice must not have changed)—Friedrich, age 14 and Kurt, age 10.

Persons interested in auditioning for the role of Liesl should be prepared to sing “Sixteen Going on Seventeen.” All other auditionees should prepare one song from the following list: “The Lonely Goatherd," “Do-Re-Mi” or “The Sound of Music.” In f addition, all auditionees should be prepared to dance. A dance combination will be taught to those being considered for the roles. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Rehearsals begin October 13, and cast members must be available for day-time rehearsals November ! through show opening, November 11. The show runs November 11-December 20.
