Wa-Nee school activities take priority over all other activities. Only Wa-Nee patrons may use the AC. West Noble takes wins The middle school Panther cross country teams both fell to West Noble, in meets held at Noble on September 3. The girls team lost ,15-50 in their initial outing of the season, while Noble moved to 2-0. Kelly Easton led the Panthers with an eighth place finish in a time o f 15:28. Ashley Bowen placed ninth at 16:11 and Becky Hufford 10th at 16:57. *For the boys, who lost 16-45 in their opener (Noble is 2-0), Blain McDowell led the run with a fifth place finish in a time of 12:13. Joel Richard placed seventh at 12:20, Jody Sarber 15th at 13:00, Josh Richmond 17th, Brent Paulus 20th, Mark Hochstetler 23rd, Casey Martin 31st, Cory Wesley 32nd, Josh Brown 34th, Peter Rummel 38th and Matt Cleveland 42nd. The Panthers will travel to Whitko for a Thursday, September 10 meet.

Volleyball Panthers handle LaVille

LaVille’s varsity volleyball team fell to the Panther girls in two games. 15-8, 15-0, in a match played September 3, at Concord. Natalie Will led serving for the winners, going 12-13 with two aces, while Jessica Yoder added 5-5-1 and Sarah Harter 4-5-2. Erin Newcomer led setting with 12. as well as four assists, while Kasey Chamberlin went six in sets, two assists, 5-6 spikes with three kills, and Amy Zercher was good on 6-7 spikes with four kills, to go along with four solo blocks and three digs. The Panthers also won the JV matchup, taking the three-game outing 15-0, 13-15, 15-1. Anna Metz went 14-15 in serving with six aces, and she added an assist. Michele Houck was good on 7-8 serves with an ace and Angie Zentz was 5-5, to go along with 2-2 spikes. Katie Chamberlin had 10 sets, five assists. 6-6 spikes with four kills and two digs, while Amy Gunn added three sets and an assist,' Myra Baumgartner 4-4 spikes with a kill, Carol Duncan 33 spikes with three kills and an assist and Ashley Egging two digs. Zercher and Newcomer led serving, combining for five aces, while Chamberlin and Newcomer also led in sets, with a total of 31 assists. Natalie Will added 20-22 spikes with 15 kills, Amy Zercher 22-25-13, Kasey Chamberlin 16-20 e and Sarah Harter 3-3-2. In addition Will had five solo blocks, Zercher three and Shelly Stichter one. Zercher, Chamberlin, Will and Jessica Yoder combined for 32 digs. The loss dropped the Panthers to 4-5 on the season (0-1 NLC), while Concord was moving to an impressive 9-1 mark. In JV action, the Panthers won in two games, 15-6, 15-9, to move their record to 4-3 (1-0 NLC). Anna Metz was 11-11 serving, while Ashley Mast was 6-6 with an ace and Kindra Owens 5-6. Amy Gunn had 10 sets, three assists and Angie Zentz six and four. Carol Duncan added 15-17 spikes with nine kills to lead in that department, while Owens had four digs, Metz three and Zentz two. North Wood will host Plymouth in a Northern Lakes Conference meet, Thursday, September 10, sp.m.
