Fan’s delight kicks

In the men’s slow pitch league, Monday’s action was opened by Red Division play, featuring PJ’s and Nate Yoder Construction. This game was a fan’s delight, with lots of runs, lots of hits, a few errors, and a game which lasted 11 innings! Nate Yoder Construction scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the contest at 10-10, and then added four more runs in the bottom of the 11th inning, after PJ’s had scored three in the top half of that frame, to win the game 14-13. Tony Thomay had five hits and Jason Shafer a pair of home runs for the “construction guys,” while Tom Musal and Ralph Yoder paced PJ’s. U.S. Male Tanning slipped by the Sharks by a 9-8 margin in the second game, behind the hitting of Jason Boley and Rudy Meyers. Jeff Crussmeyer and Jeff Kern each had three hits for the Sharks. Cory McKinzey slammed a homer for HMFIC, as they defeated V&J, 17-14, in the prime time game. Brian Dill had a three-run shot for V&J. Accra Form pinned a 14-4 loss on J&N Stone in the final game of the night. Dave Tomassi and A 1 Crain led the offense for the winners. In spite of Tuesday’s heavy rain, the Blue Division games started on time, with Randy Kwiliaski, Jay Godshalk, Rod Croy, Bill Mills and Bill Grubbs each getting two hits for U.S. Male #2, as they shut out Burger Dairy, 3-0. The only question is, how can a team only score three runs when five players each have two hits? The “upset special of the week” went to Wakarusa Electronics, as they garnered their first win of the year over WaNee Merchants, 7-6. Brent Carrick and Jeremy Mast each had a pair of hits for the Merchants, who dropped into second place with the loss. The Pirates scored seven runs in the sixth inning, to defeat Quick Auto, Inc. in the third game of the night. Merle Hochstetler’s three hits paced the Pirates, while Ken Englund’s single and homer paced the offense for Quick Auto. A matchup of two teams tied for first place —Fred’s Flowers and Weekend Warriors—was the evening’s finale. The Warriors scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break an 8-8 game, and held on for an 11-8 win and the league lead. Homer Hochstetler’s single, double and home run produced three RBI for the winners, while Darrin Miller’s single, double and triple led the
