ALL ABOARD!—Nappanee Mayor Larry Thompson, Police Chief Ray Carich, Street Superintendent Sam Adams, EMS Director Jim Sumpter and several other city officials took a step back in time June 24, as they traveled a passenger train from Goshen to Marion and back. Officials from throughout Elkhart County were invited on the tour and seated in antique cars which still carry the rustic patterns and feel of yesteryear. Each train car was rigged with movie cameras so that passengers could get a bird's eye view of the engineer and the railway before him. The ride was a promotional tour made possible through the cooperation of CSX and Conrail Railroads to promote safety on the railways by both conductors and motorists. (AN photo by Merrie Chapman)
