NCT mystery continues; ‘9B schedule outlined
Nappanee Civic Theatre has finalized its production schedule for the 1998 season, with the opener, “Boardwalk Melody Hour Murders,” continuing May 1-2, at West Park Pavilion, 500 N. Nappanee St. Curtain is at 7p.m„ with doors opening at 6:30p.m., for the all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner and mystery production. Dining is throughout the production. Tickets are priced at $lO for adults and $8 for seniors. Reservations are a must —please call 219-773-3412. The summer youth production will be the popular “Alice In Wonderland,” July 10-11, 7:30p.m., at the pavilion. Once . again performing a classic children’s fairy tale, area young people will take to the stage. This will include a large cast, with all kids interested asked to audition on either Saturday, May 9, 10a.m.; Monday-Tuesday, May 11-12, 6:30p.m., at the pavilion. Young people ages 5-16 are needed, with auditions consisting of readings from the script, and theatre games. NCT will present Rogers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific,” Fridays and Saturdays, August 1-7-8-14-15, 7:30p.m., and Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2:30. Tickets go on sale June 1, so please call early, for best available seating. Casting for this big musical will be Saturday, May 16, 1:30p.m. and Monday-Tuesday, May 18-19, 7p.m., for adults, and Saturday, May 16, 10a.m., for kids. All casting will take place at the pavilion. There are parts for 15 women, 22 men, one boy age eight and one girl age 11. There are three principal roles for women and five for men. Scripts are now available for interested persons to look at, by calling the theatre. The Fall Showcase Show, “Mixed Nuts,” is the annual production for NCT veteran regulars, so there will be no casting dates. Elder Haus offers activities for seniors All senior members of the Nappanee community are invited to become active in the many programs of the local senior center, Elder Haus, located at 258 E. Market St. The center is open Monday through Friday, with quilting all day on Mondays and Fridays. You are invited to bring your lunch and spend the day. There is a microwave oven available for heating soups and sandwiches. Friday is also volunteer day, with opportunity provided for cutting stamps for recycling, and for visiting. Pinochle begins at Ip.m. on Mondays, and Euchre and other games at Ip.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Hazardous waste collected
The first of two household hazardous waste and tire collections for all Elkhart County residents will be held Saturday, May 2, at Borden’s Waste-Away Service in Elkhart, from Ba.m.-3p.m. The service is located at the comer of Beardsley Ave. and Wildwood. A second collection, scheduled Saturday, September 19, will be held at the county fairgrounds in Goshen. The types of acceptable waste will include anti-freeze, gasoline, motor oil, paint, car batteries and various types of cleansers, in addition to home health care items, such as needles and old medicines.
