Indian tale featured as dial-a-story
The vain coyote family tries to get even with the woodpecker family —at great pain to the coyotes —in this Pueblo Indian tale. “The Coyote and the Woodpecker” is this week’s featured dial-a-story on the Nappanee Public Library Information Line. The free storytelling service is available on a 24-hour basis, and is just one of the options on the line, 219-773-7920. The story changes each Monday, to give a maximum number of children the chance to hear a tale before it changes. Rotary report... The speaker at last Wednesday’s meeting of the Nappanee Rotary Club was Randy Yohn, clerk of the circuit court, who talked about election procedures. He was introduced by Paul Teal, program chairman. Nappanee Early Bird Kiwanis met Wednesday, March 25, at Ron’s Bakery & Restaurant. There was an interclub from Warsaw, including former Lt. Gov. Bob Gephart. Joy from Warsaw won the 50/50 raffle. The club sponsored a very successful auction on Monday, March 23. Special thanks to Susan Nunemaker, for all her hard work. The program chairman for Wednesday’s meeting was Ron Meister, who presented “Nappanee’s Own” Max Bigler. Max is known for his inspiring talks and his one-liners.
