REED-MAST Frank and Edie Reed, 70903 • CRII, Nappanee, announce the engagement of their daughter. Lea Ann Reed, to Jeremy Mast, son of Dan and Anna Mast, 8761 W 1100 N, Nappanee, and Brenda and Danny Hawn, 202 E. Walnut St., Nappanee. Ms. Reed is a North Wood High School graduate, and is employed at Walnut Hill Early Childhood Center, Goshen. Her fiance, also a NWHS grad, works at Coachman, Goshen. They are planning a May 16 wedding, at the Mt. Tabor Church of God, Nappanee.

REJOINS STAFF—Scott Hotter has rejoined the sales staff of McCormick Motors, Nappanee, and will focus his efforts with businesses, selling medium-duty trucks and commercial specialty vehicles. Mr. Hotter has over 23 years of truck and car sales experience—over 15 of those years with McCormick Motors. He achieved the distinction as the number one truck sales person in the Chevrolet Chicago Branch in 1988, and has been in the Sales Legion of Leaders for 16 years. Nearly every weekend, and many weekdays, a Library Friends group somewhere in Indiana is selling used books at bargain prices. Indiana Book Sales 1998, a directory listing many of these book sales in calendar form, is available from Friends of Indiana Libraries. Her fiance graduated in 1994 from North Wood High School, and is a senior at Defiance College, majoring in marketing and business management. He is employed at Defiance Metal Products. They are planning a March 14 wedding, at First Presbyterian Church, Defiance.

TOPS 425 Nappanee Tops In. #425, met Monday morning at the First Church of God, with the leader, Christena Kurtz, presiding. The secretary and treasure read their reports and roll call brought 22 members weighing in, for a total loss of 22-3/4 pounds. Five members stayed the same. Lisa Schmucker and Ruth Manges tied to lead the group in weight loss efforts. Last week’s dime pot went to Charlotte Martin, and Lydia Weaver received the Kops dime pot. The challenge for the week is to think before eating a snack —”do I really need this —am I really hungry?” The leader shared an article on how one often thinks potatoes are not a good diet item. It isn’t the potato, but the butter, cheese, etc. that shouldn’t be eaten. Another article shared was “Foods that renew your energy.” LEGION AUXILIARY Nappanee American Legion Auxiliary 8 and 40 Partners hosted the El-Co Salon #B7l meeting, Saturday, February 14, at Athina’s Restaurant, Elkhart. Joan Richards of Unit 308, Osceola, the le Petit Chapeau, conducted the business meeting, with other officers and chairpersons reporting on their duties. During this time, children and youth chairpersons accepted partner’s monetary donations to be used for gifts for confined children at the National Jewish Center Hospital, Denver, Colorado. The nominating committee was elected, and 50/50 drawing and door prizes were awarded. Partners also attended from Bristol, Middlebury, Osceola, Millersburg and Goshen. The next salon meeting will be held March 14, Ip.m., at Althina’s, with Middlebury as hosts.

Elder Haus offers activities for seniors All senior members of the community are invited to become active in the many programs of Nappanee’s senior center, Elder Haus, located at 258 E. Market St. The center is open Monday through Friday, with quilting enjoyed all day on Mondays. You are invited to bring a sack lunch and stay all day —there is a microwave available for heating soups and sandwiches. Pinochle begins at Ip.m. Mondays, and Euchre and games at Ip.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Chair exercises are offered at 10a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Fridays are designated as volunteer days, with opportunity provided to cut stamps for recycling, as well as for quilting. If you would like to have your name added to the mailing list, to receive a monthly calendar of activities, and special announcements, please call the center, 7732424. Free income tax preparation is offered from l-3p.m. on Fridays, at the center. Please call ahead to make an appointment for this special service.

Living in Nappanee
Mr. and Mrs. Cory Alan Yoder are making their home in Nappanee, following their December 6 wedding at St. Dominic Church in Bremen. Mrs. Yoder is the former Kelly Marie Finnigan, daughter of Marie Finnigan, Henderson, Nevada, and Terry and Brenda Finnigan, South Bend. Her husband’s parents are Nel Yoder, Nappanee, and Keith and Susan Yoder, Wakarusa. The ceremony was performed by Father Robert Dombrowski, in the presence of 185 guests. The bride chose a short-sleeved, white satin dress with scalloped neckline and beaded accents, featuring a full-length chapel train. She carried a cascade bouquet of white and deep red roses, and also wore her mother’s diamond earrings and carried her grandfather’s rosary beads. Attending the bride were Kelsey Tyler, maid of honor, and her sisters Therisa Finnigan and Mary Finnigan, and Lea Ann Reed, bridesmaids. They wore slenderfitting, off-the-shoulder black crepe dresses with chiffon trains, and carried English nosegays of deep red and white roses with gold accents. The groom was attended by Chris Yoder, his brother, as best man, and by Brian Collins, Justin Detwiler and Matt Bunch, groomsmen. Ushers were Brok Odiorne, Kevin Studabaker, Births... Tera Miller, daughter, February 10, St. Joseph Community Hospital of Mishawaka.

Angie Pletcher, Joann Sensenbaugh and Abby Sensenbaugh, step-sisters of the groom, served as guest book and program attendants, and Nicci Mullet and Brandi Aleo served reception guests. Don Drivadahl and Angie Finnigan read scripture. The reception buffet and dance were held at St. Isidore Hall in Bremen, and was based on an angels theme, with Cory’s father and step-mother creating the wooden angel centerpieces. Mr. Yoder is employed at Utilimaster, and his wife is a stay-at-home mom.
