TOP SPELLER—GeraId Schwartz has won the Elkhart County Spelling Bee, held at Goshen Middle School, February 17. Schwartz, seventh grader at North Wood Middle School, Wakarusa, represented his school amid 47 participants at the competition. The winning word was crepuscular. Gerald is the first county spelling bee champion in the history of the middle school. He will go on to compete in the Area Spelling Bee, Fort Wayne, March 21. The winner of that contest will go on to compete in the National Spelling Bee, to be held in Washington D.C., the week of May 24. CONTEST WINNER—Katie Christner, 1006 Beechwood,' Nappanee, was the winner of the giant stuffed bear from Your Flower Shop. The prize was given following a Valentine's Day drawing. Katie's husband Dale entered her name in the contest after purchasing his wife a dozen peach roses for the Valentine's Day.
