July 19, 7a.m.—Dorothy Hoffer, 13143N 750 W, Nappanee, Unwanted cars may be sold to Boys-Girls Club Boys and Girls Clubs throughout Indiana are looking for unwanted cars. The cars will be sold at auction and the money deceived will benefit their programs. All donors need to do is call 1-800-246-0493. The cars will be picked up in a short time. Cars need to be intact, and the donor must have the certificate of title. The cars will be picked up free of charge. The fair market value may be used as a charitable contribution for tax purposes. Court news The following cases have been -handled through the Nappanee City Court. David Widmoyer is the judge. Jose Zavala, charged with speeding 58mph in a 30mph zone, paid total fine and costs of $103.50. Aimee Coon, charged with possession of tobacco by a minor, paid total fine and costs of $100.50. Joey Sawyer, charged with skateboarding/rollerblading in a prohibited area, paid total fine and costs of $80.50. Jose Ruiz, chaiged with driving while license suspended, paid total fine and costs of $85.50.
Local police make warrant arrest
Tuesday, July 15, the Goshen City Police Department contacted the Nappanee Police Dept, to request that local officers attempt to locate 36-year-old John P. Sarber in reference to a valid warrant out of Goshen on a charge of check deception. Following a brief investigation, it was found that Sarber was living in anartment number rive at 152-

The Nappanee Noon Kiwanis Club meets each Monday, at Dal Mar Banquet Hall, 159 E. Lincoln St. At last week’s meeting, Robert McLean spoke on his job as a township trustee. He addressed different responsibilities, such as dog tags, cemetery upkeep and record-keeping. He also spoke of different methods proposed to assess property. His wife, Abby was a guest. She is the mother of Kiwanian Aimee Bricker. The Kiwanian of the Month for June was Will Wilson, recognized for his two-week trip to Philmount, with the Boy Scouts. The Friend of Kiwanis for June was David Holdeman, of the Goshen Club, new International Trustee. Kiwanians are working the ribeye steak stand this week, at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, Goshen. Rick Persing and Phil Marsh are the co-chairs for this special project, with all Kiwanis members asked to share the work load at the fair.

The Nappanee Early Bird Kiwanis Club met Wednesday, July 16, at Ron’s Bakery & Restaurant. Barb Dawson won the 50/50 raffle. Guests were an interclub from Warsaw, and Bill Little, Milford. Tuesday, July 15, Steve Peach, Corey Graham, Rodney Burnham and Fred and Evelyn Culp went to Goshen for an interclub. . Rodney Burnham was the chairman for the meeting, and brought members up to date on the soccer games, as well as recounting how he and his family ended up in Nappanee. After visiting many foreign countries during his time in the Navy, and living in several midwest cities, they settled in Elkhart, and finally, Nappanee. Friday, July 18, Barb Dawson, Sam Martin, Dave Berger, Fred Culp and Ron Meister went to Milford for an interclub. Attention Colts fans —watch for information on the Colts’ tractor raffle. The semi skidded 299 feet, struck an MCI cable sign, and came to rest in the middle of the highway pointing northeast. Both drivers agreed that the car's turn signal was on prior to the accident.
