SHRINE CIRCUS—The 51st annual Mizpah Shrine Circus opens Thursday, January 30, with a 6:30p.m. performance at the Ft. Wayne Memorial Coliseum. The circus runs through February 2. Earn honors at Manchester Manchester College has released its dean’s list for the fall semester. To be eligible, students must rank in the upper ten percent of their class, and carry at least 12 semester hours, with at least nine semester hours for grades. The list includes the following local students: Kara Scheumann, daughter of Wayne and Sandra Scheumann, 27123 CRS2, Nappanee. Scheumann earned a 4.0 GPA. Classic Transport selected Classic Transport, Inc., of Elkhart, has been awarded a major contract to transport postal trucks for the United States Postal Service. Under the terms of the agreement. Classic Transport will ship 2,600 one and two-ton postal vehicles to their final destinations throughout the country. The postal vehicles are being constructed in Wakarusa by Utilimaster Corporation, in cooperation with Hendrix GMC/Fleet Services of Austin, Texas. Classic Transport will be responsible for all mainland shipping within the continental United States, as well as overseas shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The postal vehicles will be used for mail delivery and collection runs. According to Bill Garvey, president of Classic Transport, anticipated revenues from the postal contract should exceed $2 million. Garvey expects the company to complete deliveries within the next six months. They will initiate shipments of 400-500 vehicles per month in late January. To accommodate the postal contract, Classic Transport has increased the size of its fleet by purchasing additional state-of-the-art 50-foot drop deck air trailers. Classic Transport was founded in 1994, and is a specialized carrier for the recreational vehicle, utility vehicle, mobile home and van conversion markets.
