READER'S CORNER... Pastor recommends favorite books
Ken Hunn, pastor at the Nappanee First Brethren Church, is currently reading A Living Faith, by Jimmy Carter. He states, “A lot of experiences I can relate to. He’s been a Sunday School teacher all of his life, including during his time in Washington. This is a really good read.” Pastor Ken reports that, although he doesn’t always agree with his theology, he would recommend Robert Fulgham’s books to others. If he were going away for six months, and could only take one book, other than the Bible, what would it be? “Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I’ve read parts of the book many times, but I would really like to try to tear into it, and weave it into the fabric of my life.” Hunn suites that if he could require one book as required reading for all high school graduates, it would either be To Kill a Mockingbird or Uncle Tom’s Cabin. He would also recommend the Bible, even if only taught as literature, stating that the book of Job, in particular, speaks much of bad things happening to good people, “yet it is very poetic and lyrical.” Asa child, Ken enjoyed reading Huckleberry Finn, and lots of history and biographies. Magazines he regularly reads include Fisherman, Christianity Today, Country, Newsweek and Life. If he could spend an evening Court news The following cases were handled through the Nappanee City Court. David Widmoyer is the judge. Robert Yarger, charged with speeding 59mph in a 40mph zone, paid total fine and costs of $82.50. James Potter, charged with speeding 48mph in a 30mph zone, paid total fine and costs of $78.50. Braiidon Ramer, charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, paid total fine and costs of $148.50. Andrew Cox, 1 charged with speeding 59mph in a 45mph zone, paid total fine and costs of $77.50. Tim Stankovich, charged with speeding 57mph in a 45mph zone, paid total fine and costs of $75.50.
