The North Wood JV football team has extended its season record to 6-0, with a 36-7 victory over visiting Mishawaka Marion. Leading the Panther ground game was junior Dan Rouch, with 54 yards on nine carries, including a four-yard touchdown. Cross country splits with Jimtown, Heritage Jimtown and Heritage squared off against the North Wood Middle School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams last week, with the Panther girls winning their meet with Jimtown, 35-50, and losing to Heritage 20-15. Steph Camer finished sixth to lead the Panther pack, followed by Teri Schuller at ninth, Jill Vanßruaene 13th, Michelle Houck 15th, and Alisa Donegan 23rd. The boys topped Jimtown 1550, and fell to Heritage 43-23. Aaron Hoover finished first, Mark Davidhizar fourth, Andrew Whitehead 11th, Jason Harter 12th, and Jon Lechlitner 15th. Plymouth falls to Panther netters The middle school volleyball teams took on Plymouth last week, with the seventh grade winning 15-12, 15-4, and the eighth winning by identical 15-3, 15-3 marks. For seventh, Kasey Chamberlin had eight serves, four passes and four sets to lead the Panthers, while Anna Metz added 11 serves, Amy Gunn and Tara Collins, each four passes. For the eighth grade, passing was led by Vikki Otis and Shelly Stichter, with 15 each, while Carrie Haney led serving with 17, and Stichter had eight spikes.
Fletcher Gamer and Jesse Clark all led a balanced attack, with five tackles apiece. Doug Brown and Amos Frye were each credited with an interception, while Tim Rogerson recovered a Marion fumble. The Panthers will remain at home this Saturday, October 7, taking on the Warsaw Tigers. Kickoff is set for 10a.m.

Blue remains unbeaten at 4-0 The Woodview Elementary Blue and White teams squared off in softball action last week, with Blue taking the contest 15-3. Blue moved to 4-0 on the season, while White is still looking for a win, at 0-4. Mike Roose had three hits snd scored three runs for the winners, with Blue totaling 10 runs in the second inning to seal the win. Brandon Hall added three RBI. White could manage just two runs in the first inning, and one in the second, before being shut out. Also seeing action for the winners were Adam Leeper, Cory Wesley, Blake Davis, Joe Tarman, Mike Craig, Jeff Hertsell, Jessica Bums and Mark Hochstetler.
