Roatan report ~
< “...being confident of this very ' thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until ‘ the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). This has become 'my verse of promise as God opens yet another chapter in my life. In mid-October I was hospitalized for almost a week with a back .problem. The initial diagnosis was ft herniated disk in my spinal column. After two days of tests I was • diagnosed with sacroilitis (an inflammation of the joints in the lower part of my spine). I was jjiven an anti-arthritis medicine ‘that I will probably take the rest of my life. I returned to Roatan two days after my release from the hospital with instructions to “take it easy for two to three weeks.” Satan intended to use this most recent health problem to defeat me, but as always God is using it for His glory. Five days after my return to Roatan —November 9 —l completed my first year in Honduras. The ' game day we closed the clinic, and I put on hold the ladies’ Bible ■study I had started a few weeks -previously. I flew to Tegucigalpa for a time of reflection and spiritual renewal. The past year has been very difficult, i have experienced in one year wfyat most missionaries encounter in 18 months to two years or more. God has truly blessed me, but the stress and uncertainty, along with my health problems, have taken their toll. Laurie Potter, a fellow missionary, and I have been under almost constant spiritual attack for the

Two weeks ago Sunday evening, C.H. Murray was the vic- ; tim of an attempted hold up on the streets of Elkhart. He routed the would-be robbers with his cane, notwithstanding one of them fired several shots at him, and the other •fead struck him on the head with a Ming-shot, cutting him badly. On two men were arrested tfnd charged with the attack.

past several months. Your prayers have been and continue to be vitally important. I can not imagine Holiness Church. I recently had been reviewing materials for the class I help teach in Punta Gorda. I was quite frustrated by the lack of good holiness literature available. I find it very exciting and timely that God has given me the chance to be involved in preparing lessons for churches throughout the nation of Honduras. Our goals i to have the materials ready for distribution at the church’s annual conference in January.‘Will you pray with me that these materials will be ready in time? I also will be involved in ministry at the Berea Church where Belza and Carmen Nunez pastor. They attended my home church in Nappanee while Belza studied for his master’s degree. They have become my family away from home. I will be assisting in the church office as well as helping in church services, Sunday school, and in any other way that I can. I look forward to ministering in this way. I attended the Berea Church while I was in language school, but because of my limited Spanish ability was not able to be actively involved. I now have the opportunity to strengthen the friendships I developed during language school and to establish new relationships. This shift in my responsibilities and ministry did not really fit into my plan for the coming months. 1 believe, however, that God has something very special He wants to do in me and through me during
Though Mr. Murray says he is positive they have the right men, the one was released for lack of evidence, and it was found that the other was in jail at the time. Any man can take a newspaper. It is the cheapest thing he can buy. Every time a hen clucks and has laid an egg, his paper is paid for that week. It costs no more than a postage stamp. What good does it do you? It instructs you and your wife and teaches your children. It comes every day and week, rain or shine, calm or storm, bringing you the best news of the neighborhood. No man is just to his wife and children who does not give them the home paper to read.
this time. God is teaching me to trust Him. The future is uncertain. I do not know when I will be returning to Punta Gorda, but am learning to trust God day by day and sometimes even hour by hour. The time away from the pressures and struggles have helped me to revive and strengthen my relationship with God. My earnest desire during all of these uncertainties is that God will be glorified and that Christ’s love will shine through me. I am convinced that Satan’s attacks and forces will be renewed and reinforced when I return to Roatan. I plan to be spiritually, emotionally, and physically stronger before I return to fight. Cover Laurie, Karen (my other cowhat life would be like if we did not have your prayer support. However, we could only stay in the battle for so long before we experienced “battle fatigue” and had to step away for a time to recuperate. Please pray for God to restore Laurie and me during this time. I plan to be in Tegucigalpa for the next few months. God has given me new ministry opportunities. I will be working on Sunday school material that will be used nationwide by the Honduran worker), and me with your prayers. As we continue to reach lost souls for Christ, Satan will persist in his efforts to destroy us. But “...He who is in (us) is greater than he who is in the world” (I John 4:4). Thank you for your faithful prayer and financial support. In Christ’s service Kathy Klotz
