Discussion series concludes March 28
“Cultural Portraits Prom Around the World” is the theme chosen for the “Let’s Talk About It” book discussion series which concludes Monday, March 28, 7-9p.m., at the Nappanee Public Library. “July's People," by Nadine Gordimer, will be discussed. Ms. Gordimer was bran and lives in South Africa. She has received numerous awards, including the 1991 Nobel Prize in Literature, and honorary degrees from Yale and Harvard Universities. “July's People” traces the story of a white family which flees civil war by accompanying their servant to a traditional village in the homelands. Dr. Adolph Lewis Soens, associate professor of English at the University of Notre Dame, will lead the discussion. Bom in Durango, Colorado, Dr. Soens received his BA from Harvard, and PhD' and MA Toddler Time Toddler Time Story Hour will begin Wednesday, April 13, from 10-10:30a.m., at the Nappanee Public Library. Parents or sitters are invited to bring a two-year-old for fun with finger plays, stories, songs, and a ample craft. The Toddler Time Story Hoar series will continue on April 20 and 27, at lOajn. year’s theme for the annual celebration. Throughout the week, a different category of music will be featured each day, with decorations, costumes, and special activities.
Some of the plans follow. Monday, April 18, is “Country Music Day.” The “Kickin’ Country Dance Club” will perform line dancing in the library from 7-Bp.m. Tuesday, April 19, is “Rock Music Day.” John Uxicks will be the host disc jockey for a rock party at the library from 7-9p.m. Celebrating with a chronological history of rock music, from the 50s and 60s, will be featured from 7-Bp.m., with today’s top 40 hits featured from 8-9p.m. Watch for upcoming information on how to receive a free ticket! Pizza Hut will co-sponsor the event, and donate pizza. Wednesday, April 20, is “Jazz Day,” with a jazz trivia contest planned, complete with drawing and prizes, at the library. “Big Bands & Music From the 405,” will be the focus on Thursday, April 21. “The Nostalgics,” a 12-piece band with singer, from Mishawaka, will perform big band music at the library from 12-lp.m. A catered lunch will be available, and G.L. Perry Variety Store will donate bottles of bubbles, in the spirit of Lawrence Welk, td the first 100 chlldfCn who attend fyith their parents. Friday, April 22, will be “Classical Music Day.” The theme for an elegant volunteer gala will be “Volunteers: Music to Our Ears.” The library’s volunteers, and those who have supported library programming throughout the past year, will be honored at this event. Harpist Beth Pare, Culver, who performed for the 1992 gala, will return to Nappanee for this special event, and present a concert from 8-9pjn. “Show Tunes and Variety Music” will be the Saturday, April 23 theme. Guest storyteller Mary Ann Hunsberger, Goshen, will return for a special appearance from 10-10:45a.m. More details on the library’s special activities will be announced in the next several weeks. Library closed The Nappanee Public Library will close at noon on Friday, April 1, in observance of Good Friday. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, April 2. Regular open hours at the library are 9a.m.-9p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9a.m.-5:30p.m., Friday, and 9a.m.-Sp.m., Saturday. The library is closed on Sunday.

Brown, charged with passing a school bus while loading and unloading, paid total fine and costs of $154.50. Roy Lewis Hollan, charged with public intoxication, paid total fine and costs of $263. Michelle Vanmeter, charged with speeding 70mph in a 55mph zone, paid total fine and costs of $69.50. Byron D.
