Police 10g... ILLEGAL CONSUMPTION * DWS Jose L. Rincon, 20, 128 Meadows, Nappanee, was stopped near the 1000 block of West Market Street for traffic violations, shortly before 2a.m., March 6. While questioning Rincon about the violations, Pll. Darrell Hartzler and reserve Ptl. Tom Shields found that he had been drinking. Because the suspect was only 20 years old, he was taken into custody for illegal consumption. It was also found that his drivers license was suspended, adding a second charge. Jose L. Rincon is currently awaiting a court appearance. Blood pressure The Elkhart County Health Department will offer free blood pressure screenings, Thursday, March 10, 10- 11a.m., at the Elder Haus, 258 E. Market St, Nappanee.

The Nappanee Police Dispatch received a frantic 911 call, March 1, shortly before 6:30p.m.. The hysterical caller slated that a male subject had beer. shot. Book discussion series continues

“Cultural Portraits from Around the World” is the theme chosen for the “Let’s Talk About It” bode discussion series which continues Monday, March 14, 7-9p.m., at the Wakaruss Public Library. “Kokoro,” by Natsume Soseki, will be featured. Soseki brilliantly describes different levels of friendship, family relationships, and the devices by which men attempt to escape from their fundamental loneliness. Bom in Tokyo in 1867, Soseki was educated at the Imperial University, where he studied English literature. In 1907, he left his role as professor, government scholar, and lecturer, to devote all his time to writing novels and essays. He wrote “Kokoro” two years after the death of Emperor Meiji, as Japan began to emerge as a modem

Kindergarten registration scheduled March 22nd

Kindergarten registration for the Nappanee area will be held, Tuesday, March 22,7p.m., in the Woodview Elementary School cafeteria. Parents of children who will enter kindergarten at Wcodview or the Nappanee Elementary School are encouraged to attend. The purpose of roundup is to Drama club to present ‘Bye Bye , Birdie' The North Wood Drama Club will present its spring musical, “Bye Bye, Birdie,” Friday and Saturday, March 25-26, 7:30p.m., in the high school auditorium. This delightful look at teenagers and their parents is sure to entertain the entire family. Containing such wonderful tunes as “One Boy,” “One Last Kiss” and “Gotta Lot of Livin’,” it’s a show that you and your family won’t want to miss. Tickets are available from any cast member, or may be purchased at the door. Admission is $4 for adults, or $3 for students and senior citizens. Make plans to attend this Broadway musical.

To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be five years of age on or before June 1. At the roundup, the principals, kindergarten teachers, guidance counselors and school nurse will all share important information about kindergarten. If you know of other families with children who should attend kindergarten next year at Wood view or Nappanee Elementary Schools, please pass this information on to jhem. ~ It is vital that all parents of Nappanee area kindergartners attend the roundup. Children are NOT to attend this meeting, but will be invited to come with parents at a special time just before they start school in August.
