Milas will seek position

Edward (Ed) Milas has announced his candidacy as a Republican for the office of Elkhart County Auditor. Milas will attempt to succeed the current auditor, Charles Miller, who is completing the second of his current terms in office, and by law cannot succeed himself. Milas has 30 years of financial experience, with 25 coming with Miles, Inc., Elkhart. Milas said he believes “my 30 years of financial experience, in a hands-on supervisory capacity, will enable me to provide the citizens of Elkhart County with the professionalism, integrity, and sound management of financial policies it now receives. I feel that I’m eminently qualified for this position, and would not seek political appointment to an office for which I didn’t have the required experience.” Milas graduated from the Walton

School of Accounting, and is a Certified Internal Auditor. He has resided in Elkhart since 1968, with his wife, Rita, and daughter, Kim. He also has a daughter, Debbie, who resides in Indianapolis. Milas is a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is a former officer and a manager of the Cleveland Township Little League, and was a member of the Elkhart Jaycses. Conservatory features spring bulb show Welcome the color and beauty of spring by visiting the FoellingerFreimann Botanical Conservatory during its annual spring bulb show, March 12-April 17. The conservatory is located at 1100 S. Calhoun SL, Ft. Wayne, and is featuring tulips, eastcr lilies, daffodils, hyacinths, hydrangeas, freesia and amaryllis. Scouts honored in ceremony

Members of Girl Scout Troop #l7O became Daisy Girls on February 7, in a special ceremony held before members of their family. The troop meets once a week, at the Brethren In Christ Church, Woodview Drive, Nappanee. All girls ages 5-6 are welcome, and can contact Dana Burke, troop leader, 773-4944, for further information. The Daisy Scouts are sponsored by the Nappanee Rotary Club, and hope to teach young girls about setting goals and establishing values, while also helping others. Nappanee Brownie Girl Scout Troop 186 recently delivered three “Operation Teddy Bears” to Nappanee EMS Director Jim Sumpter, Jr. The bears are purchased through donations given by the girls themselves (not solicited funds), and donated to the EMS Department so that EMTs can distribute them to children in trauma, as a help in calming the child.
